My Fuel Pump Is In!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

After being without my baby since April 10th

my service manager (who happens to also be a friend) called this morning to let me know the pump showed up, and they are installing it as we speak, will be driving my baby

by dinner!!!

Did you confirm it's the "new" pump with a different part number than the original?

I heard that they are replacing it with the same pump...at least that's what my dealership told me...just go get you guys on the road, and then when they mass produce a better pump...they'll issue a recall...

The part number will be the same. There was just a bad run on them. It is a part inside and not the whole part. If we had access the Siemens database, we would be able to see all the part numbers that make up the main part number and look for that difference.

They just called and told me its done, so I am using lunch break to pick up the car, I will talk to the mechanic and parts to see if I can confirm the part number. But since they ordered me a brand new car as a collateral exchange, all I need is for this car to last me till the new one comes in (late august at best).

You guys have no idea how hard its been in beautiful weather to drive without turbos. To quote someone's avatar on here (forget who), twin-turbo power is something to be shared

Thompson. Basically, once they found out that it was gonna be longer than 30 days, they realized I could file a lemon report, but that would be a pain in the ass for me and them. So to help me out, especially since I was having issues over the missing oiler cooler they said, "Lets just make things easy, sign a waiver saying you won't sue anyone, and we will order you a new car for the same payments you are making, unless you want to add on anything extra". Since I am an attorney and I know how things work, I read the release and realized this was a VERY good deal and VERY practical for both sides, especially since I realized the problem was not Thompson's or BMW's fault, who knew the thirds party vendor would drop the ball? Thay call it a collateral exchange, and no THEY DEFINITELY DID NOT HAVE TO DO THAT. But they will make out well, and so will I. I will be a customer for life and they will get eventually sell my older one, which btw is a great car and I would have happily kept it especially with the oiler cooler retrofit kit being available.

This isnt that unique...I had the same thing happen on my first Audi S4. ...its called Customer Satisfaction Buyback...they dont like labelling cars as lemon buyback..because the value goes signficantly lower at the auctions. BTW, I use to be a car broker too..and bought cars at the Adesa/Manheim auctions.

4 days? U got retards working there, it shouldn't take a qualified tech more than 2 hours to replace a fuel pump...unless they had to do tests and reprogram it or something..

supposedly they had all sorts of large expensive test equiptment hooked up to it for a lot of the time... the only response I got from them is that they said it "took a few days to work out the bugs"

Congrats on getting ur car back, i remember ur fuel pump thread when it first happened....i had a puppy then, but it's a full scale dog now..

Ya, I also got my payments covered, and a 335i loaner... They treated me good.

Its been 7.5 weeks now

You can pick up a Walbro fuel pump for lik3 $80-85 and not have to worry about it anymore. Also, I also make sure the dealer knows NOT to detail my car...it always costs me about $250 to have the car buffed out when they're done with their swirl marks.
