I'm getting ready to do my first brake pad replacement also. From scanning the threads regarding replacing sensors, I understand that if they are not replaced, your brake pad replacement warning on your CBS will not reset. I'm not sure if that applies to replacing the pads before the warning or after the pad replacement indication comes on. In my opinion I think it doesn't hurt to invest the extra money to buy new sensors. It's cheap insurance to know that your brake replacement indication works properly. You just need to buy one sensor for the front and one for the back pads.

If currently you are NOT getting a low pad warning on the dash - the sensors are still OK, and could be re-used.
Once the warning light comes on - the sensors are essentially trashed for future proper operation. Dealer religiously replaces the sensors regardless of whether light has come on or not during a 'Free Maintenance' brake job. Not a bad idea to replace anyway - they are only $15/ea & you only need (2)
