If you drive in NYC, your car will be impounded and you will spend the night in jail. If you drive in Long Island, you will be issued a citation.

Hope you know that employers check your driving records these days.

$16k a year for insurance.. that's RIDICULOUS.

Hmm.. thanks all for the inputs. Wierd thing is, not sure why but when iw as suspended in NJ i have been pulled over a few times in NY and my license was good.

Does anyone know if this law is a fact or new? Im pretty sure i was driving in NY while being suspended in NJ....

I wont be driving for a good month or so. Might be taking vacation to amsterdam for a month.

dude how old are you? and how can you accrue 22 points?? that is just nuts. your going to be paying a LOT of money and your insurance is going to be ridiculous. maybe your parents will be paying for this but still in the end your going to be fucked til your 40 years old. it takes 5 years for insurance points to drop 3 points figure that one out.

dont know how ur license was ok in NY since our points can be seen by NY cops. If you have a NY license then NJ cant give you any points.

take the vacation, it will buy you some time and when you get back, try to only drive for work

for the person that tried to FL license thing and still went to jail, maybe the cop was just a deusche.... my brother has gotten pulled over a few times and has gotten away with it but its only been in NJ so far

I had 3 speeding tickets so far and no points. In NC where I live you just have to come to court and accept a plea bargain. Don't you have similar procedures in NJ?

Post Consequences

Well, 22 points are nothing in comparison to what is gonna happen to you if you continue speeding and get into a car crash. If someone dies, you are going to jail with involuntary manslaughter charges, and a plethora of other charges.

Stop driving like a (____please insert here a good description____) ad good luck with your driving behavior.

P.S. It would be better if you just forget you have a BMW.

Driving while being suspended in the past made me really think today about what would really happen if i was in accident. The accident being my fault or not, i really never know. Dont even want to think about all the troubles that can happen.
Dam its going to be a long 2 months...47 days left.
Noticed on my driving abstact i was suspended the first time when i reached 13 points...Which was 4 years ago...I need 3 CLEAN years to take away 3 points...Dam i really dont know what to do for 47 days.. Gonna suck leeching rides and making my friends/gf drive my car..
Maybe my next car should be a Kia Soul

Damn my first post here in a long time. I have been suspended for almost 1 year and 1 month now. I have 15 points now and my 325xi just sits in the driveway...LOL. I eluded a cop on my motorcycle and got caught...he also arrested me got another felony and 7 points out of the 28 points I was supposed to get. 2 months later I got a DUI...I went from being a preferred driver on my insurance to riding my trek to work in 10 degree weather. I learned how important a license is especialy in jersey. I get my license back in June and will be driving like a snail. Too old for this now...trust me man you got it easy. 2 months? That's nothing...be careful avoid the pigs man.

i got 18pts on my license and i thought that was alot...
i just got my license back from a 30 day suspension, i feel you man!
if you trying to get a new license, i think going to philly for one is not bad,
couple hour drive and im sure the points from ny/nj doesnt carry over!

the fucked up thing is this new driver assessment fee that you have to pay when you have 6pts or more. wonder if nj got that?

2 months suspension is punishment enough, but getting yourself a Kia Soul is just CRUEL. Just law low for a bit. The two months will fly by.

It's $150 for the 6 points in a period of three years or less, and an additional $25 for every point above the six. You will be charged as long as you have over 6 points in the immediate three years. Of course, this applies to NJ and may be different with other states.

Yeah I happen to know a lot about the process as well, which is not necessarily a good thing. Definitely not near suspension though.

I believe every time you get a point over the 3point line, you are automatically placed on probation for a year. The best thing you can do is try to get a hearing from Drivers Saftey. You can also go back to court and ask them for traffic school for previous tickets. Also invest in a V3! Good Luck!

New York, New Jersey and Conneticut are reciprocal states...

You can be charged with Unlicensed Operation of vehicle under subsection 5091 which is a ticket.
OR you can be charged with a misdemeanor known as Aggravated Unlicensed and arrested. Dont be stupid and risk getting arrested. If you need to use your car for work or school, go to the DMV and apply for a conditional.

Not fun man.....I just ended a 60 day suspension...you need to try and apply for a restricted license! You can put up to 5 destinations I think; which you can legally drive to, but dont get caught doing anything else!!! It is not valid outside of the state, but you could play dumb, the idiot DMV worker approved mine with a CT destination on my list.
