Not looking to kiss any arse here, but am I alone in thinking Dave's stuff is a world away from that in terms of quality?
Not taking anything away from that guy in that link (I for sure couldn't do anything half as cool as that) but I think Dave's stuff is different gravy, leagues better. Good find though

Thanks Guys,
He's done a reasonable job. My eye can see lots of little things that need tweaked in the poly modelling and rendering. I think he has modelled it very quickly - whereas I am glacially slow, just grabbing a few days here and there in my spare time. If you look at his wireframes they are a little bit irregular/lumpy. His materials look pretty standard, his lights coudl be better. He has used IBL (Image based lighting) for his final render, so he uses the 360 background image (taken from the DOSCH HDRI set - well known and now over used image) to generate the main light - this gives his renders that blue/grey feel and no sharp shadows. I have been spending time lately creating my own 360 HDRIs and developing a way to balance IBL with physical lights/sun. That sounds overly critical Not knocking it. Just what my trained eyes see. I haven't done much in the way of Architectural Visualisation. ArchVis is a HUGE market. I chatted last week with some of the guys who work with Fosters etc. It is just that modelling a sun-lit corridor or a stylish chair doesn't inspire me as much as car modelling. On a more positive note to all the thefts of my renders, Autodesk have seen the BMW and have requested to use some images in their PR and Marketing campaigns. Full credit and tagline given to me. Which is nice. D.
