on a serious side note, use CA or use the poor men's CA method. Put the key fob in, engine start, engine off, take key fob out and turn on the engine without keyfob.

Here's a few small things I've noticed...

An iPhone 3gs wedges nicely into the open compartment between the shifter and the arm rest on non iDrive sedans. Grab a Y charger/aux cable from the net and a low profile usb car charger and you'e got a pseudo dock that needs only one connection for sound and charge.

On pre-LCI sedans, the armrest is not springloaded. Thus, I can run the cable from the center box to the iPhone and leave the armrest down. It does not lock down but otherwise works fine. On Post-LCI sedans the armrest is springloaded so this does not work because you can't get the armrest to stay down.

I have no problem closing my armrest. I have an 06 325i, but it closes just fine. I am using a Y-cable (usb/3.5mm cable) and a mini USB lighter socket charger in mine also.

On LCI's the armrest is much tighter and has problems with cords. I dremeled my old one.

I discovered that the rain gutters don't keep water from dripping into the car and onto my left leg.

In all my previous BMW's (E90, E91, E92 and E46 cabrio) I have never had that. Get it checked

+1...took two weeks of casual reading here and there to finish ...didn't learn anything except holding the idrive knob in the desired direction brings you to the previously viewed screen...great read though

I know it's a long read...but it would be much shorter if people actually read the thread instead of making the disclaimer "idk if this has been mentioned already but..." or "I'm not going to read through 60 pages but..." ...use the search tool to see if your contribution has already been mentioned if you don't want to read through the thread...the thread is long...but only because things were mentioned at least 10 times each...all in all very informative

Exactly what I was thinking. If someone had the time, it could all be compiled into a single post and stickied.

Sorry if this is a repost but I can't tell you how happy I was to re-discover this feature last night.

Parked at the airport a LONG way from anything... return flight was delayed into the wee hours of the morning.

COOL FEATURE:

I keep my CA equipped key in my briefcase when I travel. After putting my bag in the trunk I cussed at my car because the trunk wouldn't latch. Instead, the lights would flash and the trunk would open after repeated attempts to close. Then I realized that my car was smarter than me and was preventing me from locking my key in my trunk! SAVED ME so much time and headache!

Like CA? The only way to really lock your keys in the car without CA is to lock the car with your drivers door shut and another one open, toss the key in the open door and shut it.
