It can't provide any cooling because when the engine is off, the compressor won't be driven, and so there's no "cooling" source to draw from. The AC coil will warm up in minutes, not provide much (if any) cooling and certainly won't provide a bit of dehumidification. It's not like there's some huge block of ice under the hood that can be the source of cooling (grin).

There is, however, a huge block of metal under the hood that gets very hot when operated. This is where the Heat function pulls it's heat, running only the fan. (I don't know if the water pump is run too, probably, as it would help pull heat from the engine block).
This is also a crucial feature to use while at the track between runs. Open the windows and rock the REST button, should help cool your AIT's down a bit between runs.

You do this? I'm a bit surprised.
I would think if you've been tracking your car, (or otherwise getting it extra, extra hot), you'd want to use the full capacity of the radiator to actively cool the block, not just the way-smaller heat rejection capacity of the cabin heater unit.

Traffic announcements (TP) can be cancelled by pressing the 'up or down' button on the steering wheel.

When you are in the phone list screens (eg A to Z) the steering wheel up and down buttons let you scroll through the entries and the phone button dials them.

Normal operation: Big Nanny says "NO, NO, NO!"
Hit DTC button: Big Nanny replaced by Little Nanny, who says "no."
Depress DTC button for a few seconds: No nannies nowhere.

Wow. What a thread! Finally finished after 5 days of casual reading. Haven't heard this yet but I asked the dealership what that priming noise was everytime I unlocked the car and they said it was the fuel pump initializing for ignition. I thought that was pretty cool, always wondered.

I thought it was cool that there is a little hole on the inside of the fuel cap door to stick your fuel cap in while you are refueling.

I think its an LCI think

My old Garmin has automatic night mode. If they don't have a light sensor at least BMW could base it on clock time right? Maybe they figure their night mode sucks and most people would prefer day mode?

LCI's like driving at night to show off LED light rings

Idrive does have light sensor..if you look rite under the screen in the middle there is a lil dot thats the sensor at night just flash a light there and you'll see the screen gets brighter and i think your light needs to be on for it to work.

Oh wow...people before you post, could you use the search function INSIDE this thread? I'm pretty sure that there's nothing for the last few pages that hasn't been post earlier. This vehicle's been out for over 5 years.

There is a manual gas filler hatch cover release near the battery area. Look for a little green pull.

Your car can be Emergency started without the key.
After running when you stop the engine and take the key out, you have 15 seconds or so where you can restart the engine without the key as an Emergency Start.
