335d FMIC upgrade ? who's done it
I am looking into getting the Wagner FMIC fitted to my 335d LCI and wanted to know if it is worth me replacing the seals in the pipes at the same time....I do have the upgraded Red pipe as standard. If so should I replace both seals on the FMIC AND the seals at the top of the Red charge pipe too ? and if so, can the top seal be easilly accessed from under the car with the tray removed but the bumper still in place ?

I read somewhere that it wasn't worth it. The engine producing the power isn't the problem, it's the torque that causes the problem and the engine has to be reigned in because of it. So producing more power through cooler charge temps is a waste of time

Hi Guys
I know there's a difference on 330d and 335d. But I did an upgrade on my 330d. It didn't give much on the dyno, but accelleration from aprox 80km/h and upwards was significant better. I would do it......

I mostly want to "preserve" the 370 BHP I have and not loose power when driving in a "spirited" fashion or in the hottest months of the year. I actually am not interested in more power now. The other reason for the FMIC is to reduce the load on my turbos to protect them a bit too.
The may thing I want to ask is "should I change the seals while I have the pipes off the intercooler or re use the old ones ?

They are only about 7 quid each so seems daft not too
The turbos are bulletproof, the only reason they will deteriorate is the breather hose issue that is well documented on this site |

is the top seal in the RED charge pipe easily accessible when the FMIC is being done ? or should I just change the 2 lower ones on the FMIC so the top one is left undisturbed?

Cheers. Are all the pipes on the spring clips or are they the single use steel bands that need to be cut off ?
Can I do the top red one myself AFTER the FMIC has been done or will it be easier to do while the FMIC is removed ? Should I use silicone grease when I re fit them ?

IIRC they're All spring clips, definitely easier with ic off.
I'd recommend some sort of grease to get them back on so the seals slip on nicely. The hoses move around when fitted which makes it feel like it's not attached properly, but as long as clips secure with no real effort then it's good. Some people silicone seal the joints.. IMHO that's a waste of time as the whole setup moves around under load |

Took the airbox out for a look yesterday and don't thinjk I or they will be able to get the top clip off in the space available. I had a good look around it as as there is absolutely no sign of weeping oil I thing I will leav it undisturbed and just get both bottom seals changed when I get the Wagner FMIC fitted. Ordered the seals form BMW on Sat AM at £6 each.
