My car keeps getting faster?

I'm thinking that to reel in a 556HP CTS-V on the top end requires some very good top end acceleration. So I thought I would confirm that with some more test results on the same day.

My test results tonight.

ET: 11.9 @ 122.8 mph.
1/8 mile: 7.9 sec @ 97.0 mph
0-60mph: 3.8 seconds.
60-130mph: 9.5 seconds

And this was on map#7, 96 oct, and a soft 2nd gear launch!

FYI, when I went to Sac and ran 120.9mph, my fastest Vbox time here was in the 119-120mph range. And it is very rare for me to hit 11's on the Vbox down here.

I then switched to map #11

ET: 12.1 AT 122.6mph
1/8 mile: 8.0 at 96.7 mph
0-60mph: 4.1 seconds
60-130mph: 9.4 seconds

2nd run on map #11

ET: 12.0 at 122.2 mph
1/8 mile: 7.9 sec at 96.8 mph
0-60 3.8 seconds

I then switched back to map #7

ET: 12.0 at 122.5 mph
1/8 mile: 7.9 at 96.6 mph
0-60 mph: 3.9 seconds
60-130mph: 9.6 seconds

So interestingly enough, I again found that switching to the race map showed absolutely no improvement at all, except for the 60-130mph split perhaps. (which was 9.4 seconds). The last run on map#7 pulled considerably hard considering these were all on back to back runs.

Hard to believe that downpipes, exhaust, or intercoolers could actually make the car faster??

I believe 122.8 mph is approaching the speeds of the record setting 135i times off the bottle. And 97 mph in the 1/8 mph is pretty interesting considering 520+ WHP M3s will sometimes only trap about 3mph faster than that?

The 0-100 in 8.3 seconds is approaching the published Z06 times.

Well here is the video of the first run on map#7

So I know my car doesn't nearly make the dyno numbers of the N54s with downpipes, exhaust, catless, intercooler, so it would be nice to see some Vbox numbers from some of those heavy hitters as well. Particularly the 60-130mph times!

Every city should purchase a vbox to share and report times. Then we could do some comparatives. Ill see if anyone in Houston has one.

Or at least there should be one owner in the area who could lend it for a symbolic fee.

I bought a PerformanceBox some time ago, but I use it only occasionally.

Actually, I haven't run with all the mods. I only tried when my car was stage 2 and misfiring.
Right after I solved the problem with misfires and installed the rest of the mods, my engine broke down. I replaced it with a new one and now I'm running-in the engine.
There's snow everywhere, that is why I'll check my times only in spring.

we should start an official 60-130mph sticky thread where folks can post up their times and mods (and hopefully videos).

This is the 18 ohm board, so you will get higher peaks. But 80% of the time it is below 16psi. 5th gear at over 120mph is where the highest boost is due to the load factor. Especially short shifting into 5th gear. Most people on here won't even by running full boost in 5th gear through the 1/4 mile. Also, the high boost right after the shifts is somewhat due to pressure build up from throttle closure. The engine obviously is very happy allowing generous timing and boost, hence the good performance. The important thing to remember here is that you can keep raising boost and if your car is not happy, you will start slowing down. And in those situations, even lower boost with knock can be more harmful to your engine.

But all in all, it has been said many times before, the 18 ohm board is only recommended for the performance junkie who understands the associated risks. Most people don't run hundreds upon hundreds of runs under these conditions, constantly testing 60-130 etc. So that speaks volumes of the durability so far.

Donald, Since you also have a unlocked JB3 with every other mod plus Meth. Have you run anywhere near 122MPH in the 1/4? With your posted times we know you can drive 1.68 60ft.

Keep in mind the BMS gauge reads from the TMAP sensor, so you'll pickup spikes during shifts as the throttle partially closes and snaps back open post shift, etc. Ignore those and look at sustained boost during a long 3rd or 4th gear pull. On map 7 with the 18 ohm and meth cooling the charge down to below 60 degrees, probably 16.5psi peak.

Are you doing all of these runs on the same road and is it totally flat with no up or downhill grade to it? That is an important factor with any test. I am sure the car runs what it does but if you are doing the tests on different roads that may have a different elevation and surface it can give you far different results clearly. Your car is clearly running strong from the video though.
