Undercoating Question

I did not get the dealer undercoating.
Does anyone recommend you get your vehicle undercoated, especially people living in the snow belt area.
Does anyone use Krown?
They told me that they had to drill holes in order to get the oil sprayed everywhere. Will this void the warranty?

Given BMW's lengthy warranty on body component rust through (10 years) and the use of double-sided galvanizing, there really shouldn't be any reason why you should have the car undercoated.

Save your $$.

I had it done on my Infiniti about 7 years ago and I HATED IT! They do indeed drill holes all over the place, visible on the frame when you open a door, then plug them with black rubber plugs. And then the rust-proofing itself leaves a nasty flaky half-peeling dried-on residue in all the door jams, under the hood and I'm sure elsewhere that I couldn't get to.

About 11 months after having the service done (which was by Ziebart but through the dealer before delivery) I received a notice in the mail that in order to maintain the "lifetime corrosion guarantee" I'd have to bring the truck back to Ziebart, pay them something like $60 and have a touch-up procedure done again. Call me stupid but that wasn't what I had in mind when I paid $500 the first time around and was told lifetime protection.

The Infiniti I had after that one DID NOT have all that crap sprayed on it, and in 74,000km and 5 1/2 years of driving in the GTA it never developed a speck of rust anywhere.

Skip it.
