Front tire size question on Arc-8's

Planning on picking up a set of Apex Arc-8's as soon as Michelin stocks the PS4S in 18" sizes. The wheel size I chose is 18x9 et30 fronts and 18x9.5 et35 rears. In the rear I am going with a 265/35/18 but for the fronts I am unsure if I should go with a 245/40/18 or a 245/35/18. I would prefer the meatier sidewall of the 245/40, but am concerned if it will mess with the wheel speed sensor.

Thoughts?

As the Apex guys explained to me once, 245 is a weird front tire for 18" wheels on our cars. 245/35 is a bit short, 245/40 is a bit tall. PS4S are kind of wide, so you could get away with a 235/40/18 on the front and I don't think it would look stretched.

Would a 255/35 and 275/35 be a better setup? Or would a 275 PS4s require fender rolling in the rear?

Not sure if this helps or not, I've got a set of 245/45/17s (same OD and width) on my xDrive wagon. I'm on stock suspension and 8.5" ET 37 wheels. I've noticed a tiny tire scuff on my strut, but I've never actually felt a rub.

Curious, are you lowered? I had ran a similar setup not too long ago, i had 245/40 up fronts and i can tell you it rubbed very bad. I also think a 245/40 front with 265/35 will look a bit funky.

What offset/width wheel were you running and where did it rub?

245/40/18 doesn't rub with the proper wheel offset, diameter clears too. My 255/35/18 doesn't even come close to rubbing up front.

Not lowered. What was the offset on your wheels?

I had all sorts of rubbing issues with 245/40/R18 on my Arc-8 of that spec (9" ET30). I even have M3 arms and the camber alignment pin pulled for maximum theoretical camber (which is wheel clearance friendly criteria) using stock shock mounts. Suspension lowered on Eibach prokit springs and it rubbed WAY too much where my bumper met my fender. I wouldn't put to much stock into guys talking about clearance in X-drive models as the suspension is jacked up already. I went with 245/35/R18 with a square setup (front and back) and it fixed all my clearance issues. You could argue that 255/35/R18's would have been OK but at the time I was so frustrated with rubbing that I didn't want to risk it. FYI - No Spacers up front. If you check out my garage pics, there is a track day picture that shows my car mid-turn which gives a good look at my front wheel loaded up in the front fender with my available clearance.

This is my exact setup.

Apex Arc-8
18x9 et30, 245/40
18x9.5 et35, 265/35
Tires are Pilot Super Sports since PS4s aren't available yet.
Stock suspension.

No rubbing except for full lock while backing up. Right tire just barely rubs the oil cooler vents.

That front setup looks exactly like mine did, which rubbed all the time. Have you hit any big bumps yet? OP I wouldn't risk it!

Yep, a freeway I commute frequently has large (horrible) dips and I've never rubbed. I've never rubbed on any bump, actually. I'm currently on stock suspension at close to 87k+ miles. I don't know.. Maybe your suspension is sagging a bit? I'm running PSS, too, which run wider than most other brands with the same specs.

I have Ohlins that are arriving tomorrow and will likely be installed in about 3 weeks. I can update again after lowering a little. Thinking I may need to get shorter tires or something, though. I just don't like the stretched look and much prefer the squared shoulders. Currently, they're stretched verrrry slightly.

OP, If you don't plan on lowering, you may be able to go this route. But again, YMMV as mine didn't rub and Volasko's did. Otherwise, I would suggest sticking to 245/35.
