weird symbol just appeared on dash, should i bring to dealer? (pic attached)
.So this symbol just appeared on my dash, permanently. After searching, seems it's "most likely" a service reminder, but not 100%. I don't have a problem bringing it in to the dealer, but my question is should I take out the jb3 before doing this? Or, as I'm getting the BT tool soon, should i run the code and see what's going on before bringing it in? Thanks for the help. PS: my car has about 25K miles currently

I would take off the mods, clear the codes, and bring to the dealer.

Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. take it out...or you might end up voiding your warranty which will mean lots of $$$ out of your pocket..

FYI my car was throwing codes, took off mods, cleared codes, and then drove it in, and they were like there is nothing wrong with it. moral of the story, beat it til it throws the code again.

It won't void the warranty and he's probably already voided the warranty anyway by having a tune, so the point is moot. An inspection is not going to be some sort of predictor of a pending warranty issue anyway. The tech will put the car on the lift, look for leaks, torn CV joint boots, and damaged under body panels and he’ll look under the hood for fluid leaks, etc; all of which the OP can do himself (assuming he installed the tune himself he is already somewhat handy around cars). If the car is leaking fluids, the OP will see it and or smell it, and take the car in for service. If the OP’s car is throwing codes, then his check engine light will be on already and he’ll be in for a service appointment anyway, if he removes the tune first. |

Here's an update. I took out the jb3 (which i didn't need to; but did, just in case) and made an appointment. Wasn't brakes, 30k service, or any of that. Was a brake sensor throwing the code. It was checked, and apparently faulty, brakes were good. They replaced the brake sensor. Next service wasn't due until next Feb.
