According to the service requirement on the Idrive screen the brake fluid is due to be changed, this is on an '06 330i, I got an email a couple of weeks ago from the local dealership offering that service for $149, normal price is $169 does that sound inline with what you have paid either at the dealership or other places. I have read on here that the price at an Indy shop was less, but I don't know if there is one I'm my area, I don't even know what an Indy shop is. I was also going to get them to change the rear brake pad wear sensor at the same time, any idea what I should expect to pay for that? I have already changed the break pads, had to right away but couldn't get the wear sensor at the same time.
Just want to know what a fair price would be for these services.

Price sounds about right, you probably don't want to know how cheap and easy it is to do yourself.

Lol I'm sure it's cheap to DIY, but I just don't want to mess with it for $150 especially if you have to bleed it which requires removing the tires to get to the nut to bleed the fluid if that's what has to be done. I would rather pay and be done with it. I know that is lazy but I would rather do something else with that time.

Regarding brake fluid changes, what determines the service light for a brake fluid change? Miles, time?

Mine just popped up, I have 24k miles.

Miles. It actually makes quite the difference too.

As fluid ages it gets contaminated with debris, air and water.

Brake fluid changes increase brake capacity by raising the boiling point of the fluid back to the original specs of the brake fluid too.

Since they flush the system and bleed out all the air it also makes for a much firmer and responsive brake pedal feel.
