Vehicle Check?

Can someone please clarify what this entails? I heard you need to take your car to the dealer so they can give it a general look over inspection. I heard it was nothing serious. Can someone confirm? My manual is pretty vague. Search didnt produce much information other than what I mentioned above.

Is there a code? If you know a good service provider at one of the dealerships who's honest then take it in. I don't have an E9x but one thing I've learned with BMW's is that they can be picky. Better to get it checked early just to be on the safe side.

They seem to have set your Inspection date for your state. I had that come up for mine.

I don't think this is an state inspection date. I have a seperate reminder for that due 06/2013 which is when my next inspection is due.

Its different for each. Mine is for a 100k mile inspection. Yours is brand new. If you look up what you 1st inspection is or at however many miles you will know what to check. For instance i think one of mine at 50 was cabin filter not a big deal just a way to get you in. But could be important

Just came up on my x5. It's due in 2000 miles which will put me at a lil over 59k. I just assumed it was inspection II. Im just out of maintenance warranty so I called my Indy. He said it was just a look over, oil change, cabin filter change, rotate tires if needed, etc. basic stuff that'll cost around $300. I'm sure the stealership would cost significantly more.

They don't call it inspection I and II anymore do they??

Mines is at around 52k right now. Anyone have a list of all the points they check? I had mines looked over by two mechanics when i purchased it several months ago. I dont see the need taking it to the stealership to tell me something i already know but it would be helpful to have list of all the points they check.

I found this information from a fellow board member.

The "Vehicle Check" (inspection) pretty much consist of the following;

Test: suspension, breakes, all lights/displays, liquids, wipers, horn, tires, seatbelts, exhaust, leaks (e.g. break lines). Push/pull lifted wheels, check for play. Use Kent Fuel guard 2 to clean injectors, adjust beam height and a general visual inspection. They were quoted something like $211 at the dealers.

For those of you who wish you clear the code, here you go;

it's just a visual inspection to check for anything that may need repair/replacing and so on

Mine started chirping the same thing, in addition to an oil change and brake fluid. Since its still under warranty, I'll have them do the latter two and just reset the first one, since everything I bolded in that list has already been upgraded

How is Kent fuel guard 2 different than seafoam?

It's a Vechicle Inspection. Everytime I get it they do a full check-up on my car. Spark Plugs, oil , brakes, fluids, blah blah.
