BOVs are intended for 6sp cars, you can put it on Auto...but it would sound funny...
But PM me if you are interested in a BOV, i have a friend selling his new one...

Does the ECU keep the throttle open during shifts? I suspect it does. If so, the BOV sound will only occur rarely when getting on it and letting off quickly.

even if the ecu keeps throttle open during shifts, the volume of air your engine consumes would drop when going into a higher gear because your rpm drops. so in theory you should still get the sound, but if the throttle stays open(versus closed in a 6spd) not as much air would vent to the atmosphere hence not as much sound.

U need vacuum to open the bypass (BOV or not, does not matter). Open throttle = 0 vacuum = 0 sound.
and regarding the AA BOV - holly crap 750$ for s/t causing 0 perf gain only a stupido "Look at me I have a turbo" fart... |

man, that's way too expensive! you could buy a nice HKS BOV and have it custom fitted on for way less than that. not that you would want to, since it would make it seem like you drove a turbo civic.

WTF is all this BS about BOV on Auto cars.
The purpose is not intended for what transmission you have. It's for compressor surge...and really, it's a expensive sound maker...don't get me wrong i'm going to get an aftermarket one, but leave the guy alone if he wants to put a BOV on an Auto car. You're also confusing some of the readers on this board. To those not in the know A BOV CAN BE USED ON A MANUAL OR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. |

The AA BOV kit is $595. The pricing should be corrected on our site by end of day. Sorry about that.

People will put bovs on automatic cars. I'll say this again. The transmission has nothing to do with whether or not a BOV will work on your car. To answer the OP question. There are many different solutions you can do. AA UR some other companies. If you're buying a kit expect to pay 400-700 depending on vendor. If you're building it yourself you can get away cheaper grab a BOV pipe with flange on ebay (10-20) get a BOV that fits that flange (150-300) Misc couplings and clamps (10-120) and you're done. |

I mentioned several times it's okay to put it on automatic cars, but not too many people do it, and in my case, i've never seen anyone put it on an automatic car, it functions the same way. Most people get a BOV to show off that they got a turbo in their car, and if you run higher boost, it's actually functional and help alleviate pressure between shifts. the BOV haters will say otherwise...
i've been in the car scene since high school, and i've never seen an automatic car with a a VTA BOV. Quote:

However, when you get on the throttle and then quickly off of it, the valve will be utilized and make the desired sound. But when you look at the actual valve cycling rate versus on a MT vehicle, the frequency will be significantly less; possibly on the order of only a few percent. This is most likely why people are saying it is pointless on an auto. Now, if the DME does close the throttle during shifts in the AT; then it will be used just like on a MT vehicle. |

Thanks for the elaboration. I would have typed that but I get so frustrated with the board sometimes. No offense to anyone btw.
That's good information for BOV auto transmission newbs. |
