My Dyno numbers inside.

As mentioned in my other thread, I was able to get on my buddy's dyno yesterday afternoon. The dyno is a dyno dynamics load bearing dyno.

I'm pretty happy with the results especially considering the SCR is still in place.

Car:
2009 335D
144k miles
ABC delete
Forge Red hose
Stock intercooler
K&N drop in filter
SCR still in exhaust

So stacking a Jbd did nothing and opening the lid gained 15+whp?

I wonder how beneficial a K&N drop in filter would be?

No. Red line as stage 2+ alone.

Green was JBD stacked @ 50%. Every setting under 50% did nothing.

Pink was with the lid off.

I am running K&N drop in filter BTW

If I still have my OEM filter, I'll do a OEM vs K&N on the next dyno session.

Sweet. Keep me posted man. Was thinking about doing a drop in filter since I like the sleeper look of the factory airbox.. Did you hear any difference in noise between stock and the k&n ?

No noise difference. The slight gain observed from the open air box I assume will be negated on the road with increased airflow into the air box...

Only way to tell would be to run the car with the lid on and then the lid off and see if the MPh picks up with the lid off.

But I agree

Such a small difference, you'd never capture 5-10mph on track. Too many variables.

I meant 5-10hp, not MPH. Sorry for the confusion.

That one appears really clean. SCR must have been gutted at same time as DPF to DP switch. It doesn't appear to have breathed any soot ever.

So you picked up +150 ft-bs @ 1750 RPM by taking the air filter and lid off? That seems... unlikely

Yea, I made it up. You caught me.

You don't think off idle spool is effected by removing the restriction to the intake? You don't think it would spool quicker? As unlikely as you see it, that's what happened. As you also see if you read the thread, it means nothing as any gains would likely be negated on the road with air actually flowing across the front of the car...

Just looks like a difference due to the delay of when the pull was started to me.....

How involved is this process? If I have access to a welder, could it be a DIY project one Saturday?

Could you confirm basic steps?
1- drop exhaust completely
2- cut open SCR
3- clean out the material
4- weld it back shut
5- re-install exhaust

Any pointers would be appreciated.

If others think it is too much for a DIY, could they give me an estimate that I could use to negotiate with a local muffler shop?
