my service red light has come on, looked into the idrive service info and everything is green except the dpf service and its saying 400 miles, what does this mean? what does the bmw servicing entail or will it need replacing in the next 400 miles.
Luckily I have an ecotune down pipe and flash drive so maybe its time to fit it.

Time for the downpipe

The DPF is non-servicaeble, it's replacement only. I'm just waiting for my iDrive to tell me I'm a bit closer to mine dying before I pull the trigger with Ecotune.

thank's parpaul, I'm going to do this myself so I'm getting everything ready for the downpipe change in the next 2 weeks, I remember seing apost somewhere with a quite comprehensive write up but cant find it!

Last year I gave the engine a good going over, a full service, air, oil and new main and EGR thermostats, manifold/egr off for a clean and swirl flap inspection ect, the engine runs sweet returning ecellent mpg the mileage now is 144k, I have turned the red light off in the idrive along with red service light on the dash and I'm waiting to see what happens, one thing I have noticed is the exhaust is a little sooty and not clean like it used to be, not sure it this a prelude to the dpf failure.
