Had a service quote today

Called Sytner Nottingham to ask for a quote to service my 330d today. The car has only covered 19k and the i-drive says: visual check, brake fluid and oil change. I gave this information to the girl on the end of the phone she asked if I wanted to get the aircon regassed/cleaned as they are doing a special offer I said ok. Total price came to £521!
So I say: you want to charge me £521 to lift the car up look underneath it with a lead lamp and change the oil and brake fluid.
To her credit she kept her cool and said I can offer you my own personal discount at 7%.
Obviously this didn't make a great deal of difference and it begs the question, why don't they do that in the first place?
So I say I will have to get back to her.
She says I can have a word with the manager to see if I can offer you a further discount.
I politely declined.
Your thoughts?

Well that also includes the air-con re-gas you asked them to include, which most places charge nigh on 100 quid for?

Ring round, get some quotes and go back to them. I'd think with without the A/C re-gas I'm sure something nearer 300 should be attainable.

£521! Holy ..... That is daylight robbery.
Glad I negotiated a 5yr service deal for nothing when I got my car with prices like that being flung around. Totally unjustified. My old Monaro with its monsterous 6l V8 was a poxy £170 a service!
Agree that air con recharge could be adding cash, but even then. I would ask for a complete breakdown of parts and labour.

Thumbs up

Although it was 18 months ago, i was quoted £308
oil change,
oil filter
micro filters
brake fluid change

By Sytner High Wycombe. I then supplied my own oil which reduced the price further by quite a lot can't remember exact price.

I asked Sytner Nottingham to price match the main dealer discount price as I wanted to keep the BMW service history for my warranty.

They came in at £400 for, Oil and filter, Microfilter, Spark Plugs and brake fluid change. For a 335i. I used their 90 minute waiting service and got provided a desk, wireless and as much tea and coffee as I could drink.

Worth another shot and the price of a phone call

Many BMW dealers have a policy of matching independents (so long as they are using BMW parts). So get another quote and go back to them and negotiate.

Had a 3rd oil service, micro filter, and brake fluid from specialist cars in tring for£400 today. I just told the guy I could get it for less than £400 at Bowker and he said Ok we'll match it. No arguments or fuss and Bowker are nearly 70 miles away.
Very happy with the price and service.

Buy your own oil and take it with you!

BMW charge £120 for 6.5 litres of oil, whereas you can buy the exact same stuff for ~£52! Secondly, why would you want your air con regassed? You car must be a maximum of 3 years old? Mine is 6 years old and is still cold as hell! If you drop the air con regas and provide your own oil, the price should drop to around £380-£400. Then negotiate a little more and it should be yours for around £340.

Also, find a dealer that matches local BMW Specialists and get a quote from them, then take it to the price matching dealer and see what they will do.

Admittedly only for 2 of the items you're looking at having done, but have my 330D booked in at Sopers in Lincoln for oil change and brake fluid change for £254.

It is outrageous, but if you want the BMW stamp you gotta pay.

Any decent BMW Indy should only be 30 mins for oil and filter, and they'll do the inspection whle the oil is draining.

Brake fluid another half an hour.

So 50quid labour (60 with vat)
50 oil
10 filter
20 brake fluid

140 all in?
