I'm not sure what common problems are on these cars but if the pad is coming loose then wouldn't the caliper piston be giving it too much slack on release or something isn't right in there no matter what you are told if it is clunking. I would make sure it is the brakes clunking though because like one person noted in the thread it could be a tie rod or sway bar etc. Also your coilovers aren't going to cause your brakes to screw up so I would have told the dealer the same thing. Any pivot point in the front I would check for both issues though, especially since something could have gotten bent from the concrete chunk. Without hearing the noise it is really hard to diagnose though. Maybe Volks has some input beyond my experience with working at BMW he could chime in about.

Jay - I think any driveshaft problem you would notice quick because of the balance issue, I would think you would feel that more than you would hear it though.

Jay-id check you r sway bar end links...typically tie rods wont make a noise until you turn and its a single pop...as for the driveshaft issue it would take very little to damage one enough that itd need to be replaced. for the brake pad being loose i havent seen one do it yet..but thats not to say its not possible, OEM pads? they are usually a little "loose" to an extent until they are bolted on and the spring is put in place? but you shouldnt be able to move the pad around if the carrier is still in and everything. if you have some more questions gimme a call 5702369998

Ok guys, seems as though I have a problem of my own now. I was washing my car today, and noticed that my wheel gap is different between my two rear tires. My rear driver side tire has more space between the tire and the wheel-well than the rear passenger side. I measured it to be sure, and it is definitely not the same.
The first two things that come to mind are something with the alignment, or uneven tire wear. The new tires have only been on for about 1000 miles, and I don't think uneven wear would be that noticeable that soon. So, why are my wheel gaps different? Oh, and the fronts are equal, no issue there.

the rear suspensions on alot of cars isnt equal due to fuel sometimes...depending on how much fuel you have theres a syphon system that transfers fuel to the side with the pump so you could have almost nothing in one side and have alot in the other as theres a hump in the middle due to the driveshaft, etc. i wouldnt worry about it man
