Nicknames!

Just been discussing this with a friend! Who on here has a nickname and what is it?

I kind of got two, never had any stupid nicknames at school, just when I joined the Motor Trade I was known as erm LOL Rita - Queen of Speed after they found out how I like to drive LOL!

Also known as Porscha, i.e. Porsche pronounced correctly, I think that name would actually suit me down to the ground ...

Technically wouldn't that be written as Porschuh. From what I remember an e on the end of a German word doesn't sound like an a but somewhere between an English a and an er sound (a shortened er?) sort of an 'uh' sound?

Maybe one of the German readers will wander by and enlighten us. In the meantime I think maybe you should be called Porschuh.

You are correct Dave. An 'e' (masculine) would be pronounced as the English 'er'. An 'er' in German (feminine) would mean one should over emphasise the 'r' almost rolling the letter. Although I suspect the correct pronunciation wasn't that paramount really as far as the post was concerned.

You are both indeed technically correct though I think for these purposes Porscha suits me much more than "Porschuh" LOL

I'd be a bella Porscha, a pity my mum is an Alfa Romeo fan as being called after her favourite car wouldn't be so nice LOL

Actually I don't think I would like to be called Porscha in real life, a bit too weird for a Porsche fan lol

I think I started calling you Carlos Fandango on the forum a year or so ago, after you signed one of your posts 'Carlos'.

EDIT: after some lengthy research .... (took me 3 mins) here is the first use of the Carlos Fandango nickname on e90post.com in July 2007:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...4&postcount=50

Clearly I was using my psychic skills without even realising because Fandango replied to say this:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...8&postcount=53

For those of you who have very boring jobs ... the entire thread is here:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...os+fandango%22

I also think Porscha may have been my suggestion after a glass or two at UK5. I think it's better than Shamzilla, which was the alternative

Oh that's right .. it was Shamzina.

It looks as if I have a previously unrecognised ability to think of a nickname for someone which turns out to be a nickname that they already have.

Do you think there is any money to be made from this?

NFS, nickname.me.uk is available as a domain name.

As for 'Shamzilla', I thought I'd portray my thoughts as a picture:

Nothing against you, Porscha, BTW- hope you like it.

I'm sure I was the one responsible for creating the name 'Shamzina' at UK5, NFS.
