I have it on my X5 and 5....works very well even in broad daylight. Too bad they don't have this option in my 3.

They make better ones then that, I just cant remember the site. It sits on your dash and projects the speed onto the windshield.

The Defi-Link has a rather large and obtrusive black frame that sits in direct line with your forward vision. I don't think I could ever get used to that. Here's another one that projects the speed onto the windshield: http://www.gtop-tech.com/index.asp?pid=309

HUDs
Greetings. On the topic of HUDs, IMHO, overall, the data being displayed on your windshield will be of limited use. When the chips are down, to change your eye's focal length to know speed is not of much use. Engine revs may be better displayed in the 'tried and true" shift light technique. I've flown airplanes with HUDs where the data displayed was of enormous value. Not so much in a car. How many professional race cars use them? Any? Save your money and put it somewhere that'll actually make a diff in performance.
Just a thought. |

Good call. I once got some gr8 advice about aftermarket stuff: "take the $$ you're getting ready to spend on XYZ, and use it in a good driving school. Wanna go faster, learn to drive it better" Man, I can't tell you how much money I've saved w/ this advice. Of course, sometimes I get stuff, just cuz I like it. Just MHO.
