Can't you just program the mirror position you want to one of the memory settings on the seat...?

I had this in my driver side mirror -- took it back to the dealer under warranty and they replaced the mirror motor. have not had the problem since.

I had the same problem. If I remember correctly, there was some sort of faulty seal with the wiring that was causing the mirror to move. The dealership ended up replacing the window motor and problem solved. However, it took three trips before the dealership could replicate the problem. . .

Same issue on my CPO '07 E91. Passenger mirror had advanced CRS (Can't Remember Stuff) and was replaced under warranty by my dealer. Unfortunately, a falling tree branch severed the mirror during a storm a few months later so the mirror was again replaced by a body shop. No problems since.

Many members have reported this issue with their mirror moving unknowingly. Can be dangerous if you're not paying attention. One member looked his mirror thinking he was in the clear and he pulled out almost hitting a car.

I had my mirror motor replaced on the passenger side as it would not come back up to default position after coming out of reverse.

This worked for me (Mind you, I already had my driver side motor replaced by BMW a month ago and the problem came back)...
Save the mirror setting on the seat memory 1, and then move the same driver mirror a little and save it in seat memory 2. Then press memory buttons from 1, it will move in all weird directions. Then press 2, and it will move in all weird directions from memory 1. That's how I duplicated the problem. My driver side mirror does the same thing on fold/unfold and even goes crazy after I reverse... Just building up warranty problems and trying to duplicate the problem so I can tell bmw how to as well. |

I currently have this issue with my passenger mirror. Currently it is working fine, but every now and again I'll see it happen. It sucks because I was on the freeway once and when I checked to switch lanes, it was tilted all the way up. Good thing I didn't hit anyone.
The bad thing for me is that my car did not come with folding mirrors; so I purchased folding mirrors off of ebay. Did the retrofit and coded it myself. I don't think these will be covered under warranty. |

If you are using multiple keys, you have to make sure your using the key that the memory is saved on. otherwise if your using the second key it wont adjust to your settings.
