L7 - Where is your balance set?

I have noticed that I have to set my L-to-R balance 4-5 bars to the right in non-surround mode to have the soundstage be centered (coming from just left of the rearview mirror) in my E93 with L7. I do have some hearing loss in my right ear but it's not THAT bad.

Is there something wrong with my system or is this the norm for L7?

Normal. Add a tweeter to the center and turn L7 back on. Sounds much better that way.

Thanks. Just finally getting around to asking this question. I go back and forth with the surround modes but since adding AirPlay, an upgraded DAC and a sub, the system sounds best (sonically) in Theater Mode. Although it is a little center heavy on many tracks (as one would expect in this mode), those songs that have good stereo separation in their recording sound very balanced L-to-R with the balance set on center. In Concert, I have to adjust the balance, but not as much as with non-surround.

Just wanted to make sure I didn't have a weak right channel in my amp (which Theater mode seems to rule out) or something else wrong (e.g. in the switching between different modes).

By adjusting the balance you are also compressing the sound stage. Like I said, add a tweeter and you will be VERY happy with the results.

+1 with the stock logic7 system I thought adding a tweeter was noticeably better. Now with time alignment I got rid of my center speaker.

Thanks. Been reading about adding that tweeter. Do you use the Concert or Theater Surround setting in L7?
