tire traction?

When I just had JB4 as my only mod and I was on stock runflats...my tires would break loose in first and a little in second sometimes. I now have DCI, c-less dps, and tune and I only break loose in first and nothing thereafter. I'm not complaining...just after reading multiple posts where they can't get traction...I figure I would suffer from the same problem. Since doing the power upgrades, I'm now running 19x10s on the rear with w/275 tires...I'm guessing that's why I have traction where others don't or am I at loss of power for my mods...

Better tires that are wider would allow for more usable traction.
Also my traction problems that I personally had have diminished since ambient temps went up.

Yeah it's been 95+ here in SC almost everyday. Just wanted to reassure that I'm not at loss of power for my mods...it does pull hard.

It's not so much that you lost power cause of your mods.
You lost power because of ambient temps, you increased your limit of adhesion with wider better tires, and the road surface has more usable traction because of the increased road temps from the hotter ambient temps.

IMO you should be happy you have traction.

What tires do you have, as that plays a big role. Sticky tires = traction I put a set of Nitto NT-05s this year on my car and I have great traction.

Surface also plays a vital role. There are many different types of surfaces, some more porous than others. Temperature also, tire compound hardens as temperature drops.

Does anyone use tire dressing? Some people go overboard and get product all over the tread. I always use a sponge to apply the product and noticed a big difference especially in the rain.

I'm getting a tune next week and I'm curious to see how much traction I have with these Achilles brand tires.

^Clemson area...I have the tires that came on the wheels I bought, Nexxon 3000. Not sure of their specifics. They seem to do well in all weather faced so far.

With temps in the upper 90s, 275/30 nexxon 3000 and 19x10 on rota 45 wheels, I'm not breaking traction at all from a dig. Are these wheels heavy? I'm putting in my code 3 intercooler this weekend so higher temps should less affect power, but just curious when I hear A LOT of traction issues and I'm not having that problem. Car still feels quick though.

I have 275/19 Invos on 10" wheels and lose traction in 1st, 2nd, and when it's cooler outside (<60 degrees), a little bit in 3rd gear too.

any suggestions would be great...the car still feels quick though.

you breaking loose through 2nd is a big difference than me not breaking loose from a dig.

Also, I do have boost oscillation problems when part throttle(even up to %75 percent throttle) could I have a boost leak even though I'm hitting around 13-14psi?

So wanted to share of interesting feedback, or at least I think it is...I hadn't been doing many WOT runs because I've been hurdling misfires; BUT, I changed coils, plugs, and injectors and no more misfires. They'd had never been replaced on my car so I decided it was worth maintenance reasons on top of tracing the misfire to replace all three items. I do plan on keeping this car for a long time.

Anyways, back to the update...a while back people kept complaining on here about traction issues(as often as today's "best intake, best FMIC for my car'' threads) and I wasn't having these issues. Mine would lose traction in first and that was it. Well turns out, the previous owner of my vehicle installed an LSD in it. How did I realize this without doing many WOT runs? My buddy was burning out in his cobra one night and he says this is what true power looks like...sarcastically I said I'll show you one badass one tire fire bud...well I proceed to burn out, and it's roasting both tires leaving a lot nicer trails than his cobra was =WINNING.

So after, I did some more testing to make sure wasn't an environmental fluke...it's not. Merry christmas to me.

Actually, sorry to poop on your idea, but the factory DSC, even when off, will brake the faster spinning rear tire and put down two black marks even with an open diff.

Try turning DSC completely off and do it again...

I'm not ignorant. DCT was completely off. Like I said, I further tested it to confirm. I don't WOT much, maybe once in past 3 months. This is my commute vehicle and that's it until I get my truck fixed and this will be my track vehicle like intended when I bought.

I live near Clemson, SC

Never said you were ignorant.

You just didn't 'splain the whole situation so I wouldn't make such a useless statement as part of the diagnostic process...jus' tryin' to help, bro.

Another way to check if you have LSD is to put the car on a lift of jack up the rear and turn the wheels forward. If both turn at the same time in the same direction, you have LSD....then congrats are in order and a wish for a very Happy New Year!
