Angel Eye Comparison & Options (Stock v 6000K HID v MTEC Cosmos Blue)
image sharing upload photos free photo hosting pic upload upload pics OEM - bright, but yellow, no hassle, no cost HID - nice color, bright but not blinding as some say, outter ring not that well illuminated suprisingly, flickering = returned MTEC Cosmos Blue - not as bright as OEM, less yellow, pointless = returned Haven't tried MTEC / LUX LEDs. So expensive, but simple install. I can't decide to go LED or fix flickering HID/Xenon issue. HELP! Last edited by sylonien; 02-20-2013 at 11:47 AM.. |

Great comparisons. The MTEC look very poor IMO. GP Thunders 7500 are better.
I can't work out why someone hasn't come up with a decent (bright) solution for BMW Angel Eyes? |

When you say flickering do you mean at start up? If so that's normal. The BMW sends a signal to the lights to check they're working but not enough power to light the OEM ones up

The angel eyes and wee eye brow thingies on my F20 are bright as fook. So much so that if you turn the light switch to off so that it's just the AEs and brows, at night there's not much difference in light output between that and the switch being in the dipped beam position. Going on the experiment I carried out in the work car park last night.

Nope, I mean constant flickering. Looks cool flashing, like a strobe. To the point where the ballast became so hot that it was like going to catch fire.
Also, all the shots where done with the same white balance (manual kelvin adjust to match what I'm seeing), same f/ stop and shutter speed from DSLR. Only thing for me to try is MTEC H8 9W v2.0 CREE LED ANGEL EYES MARKER KIT But I'm pretty sure the light is white/blue and not bright enough though for the price £140. Don't know what to do!! |

I would do HIDs, but heard horror stories of wires catching on fire and dealership voiding warranty. LED install much cleaner, everything looks OEM under the hood. Last edited by JNoSol; 04-19-2013 at 09:56 PM.. |

Here is my new MTEC CREE LEDs. They look very similar to the HID ones, but much less hassle and almost same price.
