Just tried this

I got a climate control with the "ALL" button and seat heater button.

It does not seem to be plug and play. My fan does not go all the way to the highest level. And the temperature does not seem to change.

I figure it must need some recoding. The climate control will go on ebay if I can't figure it out.

I haven't heard any success stories on this, can anyone confirm? Are certain conditions required to be met?

Look for another thread in the coding section. You can have REST coded in, but you lose the ALL function. My dealership did mine for me, so I have REST not ALL in my '11.

Thanks, I am familiar with the possibility of coding (though not that a dealer could do it). looking to see if there is really a dual use to the all button as the above claims indicate.

The "Dual" function is just legend.

Coding does make it work, that is not legend. I use REST all of the time and come back to a warm car, usually still blowing by the time I run in to pick up some quick groceries or get gas. I have no "ALL" though.

Wont for me though, belt driven pump only. The 09 335d had an additional electric water pump.

Here is the link on how to code the ALL feature to the REST feature.

I don't think there was any cost cutting involved in switching to the ALL function, it was merely a result of BMW thinking the ALL function was more appealing to more customers than then REST function was.

i don't care for "all" or "rest" i just want to move my heated seat buttons up, if i buy a new climate control unit will all the other functions work properly aside from the rest/all?

Am I the only one here that needs to ask:

If the REST function ONLY WORKS VIA the electric water pump that was discarded on production cars AFTER the REST became ALL then how does any sort of coding make REST work on E90 cars (assuming all the cars without factory REST have the newer water pump) with the ALL button and without the electric pump?!!

1. yes you are the only one.

REST is life!

2. if you get heated seats from a car the same year as yours then yes they should be plug and play.

The ONLY thing that may trip you up is the fact that some sport seats have bolster airbags that involve extra wiring and complications with the SRS system. Even with coding and a new JBBE I am not sure you can bypass the SRS on a 2011 BMW.

I'm not yet a bonafide expert on the E90 cars but I've done the same heated seat retrofit on my 2001 330i E46 and on my 1995 318i E36.

I hear the E90 is a different beast when it comes to coding so good luck to you if you do need coding.

im under the impression that the entire sport airbag system be in place for you to recode the SRS

Yes. That is true. Airbags SRS and coding on a BMW can be tricky.
SRS is a smart system that can quickly and easily detect missing or extra components in the SRS.

Are the seats you have now power, heated w/ lumbar? If so they probably are pnp. It not, then you may need to run a couple of wires, code and add switches. That is what I had to do adding heated seats to my pre-lci that only had power.

Unplug the yellow connector under your seat and see what wires are already there. Good wiring diagram here. https://www.bmwdriversforum.nl/viewtopic.php?t=18204

Just picked up p/n 64119287626-02 it seems that the passenger side knob didn't work and when I would try to defrost the windshield with just that button pushed it would also blow cold air out of the front vents. Faulty unit? or do I need to code something in order to get this to work on my Pre-LCI?

Thanks

heated seat buttons in new climate control

Sorry not sure if anyone can help here. I need to remove the heated seat bar to make way for a 2 din touchscreen so can the all in one climate control front be swapped and will it work? I don't care about the rest button I just want to instal the tv.

Moving the heated seat buttons into the lower ashtray is the other option but the cost is around £190 when I can buy a used climate control (with heated seats button in the same one panel) for around £30

any help would be appreciated
