Interesting.....the 426hp version hits 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds?

Some on this board with the 135 are getting close to that stock, 4.8 or 4.9 seconds?

Yea if you look at the Spec sheet and read its competitors it says, Challenger, Mustang and 350Z... it should be something like this:

Challenger R/T, Mustang GT, 135i, 370Z

or something in that nature.. but supposably the SS is hitting higher speeds than them all in the 1/4 mile run the R/T is the closest one to the SS

The Camaro SS weighs about 500lbs more than the 135. I think the trap speed of the SS will be higher than the 135 though.

I just wish the SS would weigh about 200lbs less than it does. Somewhere around the M3 coupe would have been perfect. Add one person and the curb weight is going over 4000lbs. The Z06 weighs a little more than 3100lbs and the standard C6 Vette weighs 3300lbs. I guess metal panels really add quite a bit of weight.

^ You should be able to put the car on a diet, if you will, after purchase.

The rear seat alone must be how many pounds????

You can't really compare manufacturers numbers to end user numbers. BMW quotes 5 seconds for the 135i IIRC. Different conditions and measurement techniques can cause the numbers to vary more than a few tenths.

^ very true theres even drivers here doing 0-60 in 4.7 stock in the 135i but I think the SS will be faster and maybe they upgraded the performance on the track to outperform many cars.. that would be sweet.

I want one in black. Plus, its the Ls series of engines! You know what that means? The vehicle isn't even out yet and it has more aftermarket support than most vars out there. Plus, after building LSX engines for a living, it would not suprsie me that people will be buying Heads/Cam/ etc... before they get the car. Here comes 550whp with hardly any mods. Woot!!!

looks good but lets just pray it the handling doesn't feel like a truck, for thats where
US cars short comings are

other short comings to add
- improve those dated 1970s gauges
- your headlight and tail lights as well, take note of lexus,BMW or Cadillacs
- your shifter knob is herendous, looks and feels like a truck
- can you do a little better with you seat leather and stitches
- and finally have Apple designers help you guys out with the interior a bit

other than that its a good move in the right direction.

All that and I guess you think it should still cost $32k right?

Reality check!

It's a retro car. Retro gauges BELONG there. If you don't want retro styling, it's not the car for you.

Nice headlights and tailights are EXPENSIVE. There's a reason you get 300Hp from BMW for $35k and 420Hp from GM for less. They make sacrifices to provide performance at a given price range. Fancy headlights and tailights are one of them. It's not a luxury car, it's a muscle car.

Shift knob feels like a truck? How do you know? Seriously!

Same two things apply for the leather in the seats. For the record, I'd take the seats in the GTO over the ones in my 135i any day of the week. The leather wasn't as plush, but it was a hell of a lot more durable.

As for Apple....Apple is overrated and overpriced as a computer and electonics manufacturer, and would fail miserably at building vehicles with the kind of budgets automakers work with for parts.

Well said! There HUGE differences than Euro's, Imports and American Muscle.

The long term test by one magazine (can't remember which) just got a 4.6 0-60 on the 135i which is only 300hp unchipped. It takes longer for a 426hp car?

I can't believe GM is going to produce this car in the current economy when the corvette is doing so bad...

Which one magazine would that be? You're going to have to provide proof for that one.

Besides, as I mentioned earlier, it's pointless to compare magazine times with manufacturer times. The manufacturer is always going to be conservative because if the press can't match what they've quoted, people will call BS.

You're bitching about HP, but shouldn't you be considering price? Why is it that it takes more money for a BMW to hit the same performance numbers as an ol' POS GM car? Who cares what the HP numbers are? It's about the performance - dollar ratio for a real car enthusiast.

You don't call off long term projects becuase of a downturn in the economy. Millions and millions of dollars were already spent on this project before the economy went south. Canceling it now would be the dumbest move they could make.
