You are right about CAN filter. That is what might be blocking.
If you get time and wish to check it, then you will have to take the emulator.
In that case GPS will get deactivated so M lap application will not record your gps location.

Work around would be what others mentioned in other thread. Opening the emulator physically and taking out the jumper to disable video in motion.
i just found this thread and realized that this was the same problem i have now. i have a clone cic retrofitted with combox which is working fine. but when i tried to use m-laptimer from bmw apps, it looked every functions were fine apart from map. it looks like the gps signal from car is not tronsferred to idrive (or combox?). the discussion in this thread specurates that the issue is because of no k-can signal is connected... i also had no k-can cable connected because it was not critical at that time... are there any guys who tested it already or know it is necessary for m-laptime?
i try to add these wirings anyway sometimes later to see if working...

Update your CIC and combox to latest firmware.

Two possible solutions (easy to difficult)
1- Connect K-Can wiring to combox so combox can pick up GPS signals via combox.
2- Read other thread and take out the jumper which active video in motion. By doing so, it should send the speed data from GPS to m lap timer.

thanks for the explanation.
actually i connected k-can wiring to combox and tested today. but it did not work, and then i realized that combox on my car was 'combox media' which did not have BMW assisit function embedded. therefore no gps data should be collected. very disappointed... it requires combox telemetrics which will have this function.

combox media does not require kcan wiring because no gps is embedded. does it mean map in the mlaptimer may not work??? is there person who has combox media installed in the car with the mlaptimer running properly? maybe combox should collect location tracking info through MOST cable???
