Pic Request: Stock height with wheels look goofy?
Hi all,
Just picked up a 09 328i, and I freaking love it. The only thing that I don't love are the wheels. I was looking at VMR VB3 wheels, 18 or 19, but am afraid of it looking goofy with the stock height. I was thinking maybe bigger tires, but I'm not too sure about it. In the past I have lowered my cars, but I don't want to ruin the ride comfort! (or roll fenders and etc.) So, anyone have pictures or suggestions of wheels that look good at stock height?! (Please include wheel specs and tire sizes!) Thanks! |

I'm in pretty much a similar situation - my e90 xi came with 16's which I can't stand so I'm looking at 18's or 19's. I'll probably end up with 18's, but regarding the ride height, there have been pics posted where xi cars with 19" wheels on stock suspension didn't look that bad at all. A bit of fender gap but still very decent.
Check this thread for pics: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=665540&page=3 Remember that all the pics there are of xi cars, which ride higher. Also it seems like on stock suspension, with 18's/19's, fender gap is larger on e92's than e90's. Not sure what yours is. If you want the look without sacrificing the ride, then the only real solution is coilovers - unfortunately, it is also the most expensive. C'est la vie. Wheels first for me, I'll live with whatever fender gap I get for a few months and enjoy the stock ride until I can afford KW V1's. 0.02. Last edited by Kalidian; 12-14-2012 at 08:18 AM.. |

Thanks Kalidian! I'm surprised I didn't stumble upon that thread.
I have a sedan, so e90? and it is not xi. So the wheel gap would be less than the coupes, and less than the xi correct? The 19's look pretty decent without a drop in that first picture. I've done both springs and stuts, about a 2 inch lower and coilovers and neither compare to stock suspension. Maybe down the road with coilovers! |

I ended up going with 18's and taller tires on mine:

E90-LCI - 18x8.5 +35, 18x9.5 +45 on 235/35/19, 265/30/19. Taller tires would be a 235/40/19, 265/35/19. It'll look goofy in my opinion with a profile taller. If anything, go with a wider tire. 245/35, 275/30. Plan on rolling your fenders but it really depends on the tire brand.
