325 to 335 Exhaust Conversion - Help Needed

So, I'm in the process of getting ready to do a 325 to 335 exhaust conversion. I won't be using any muffler, as I have a muffler delete already. I'll just be putting in a Y-pipe, that I already have, and running separate piping. However, while getting setup before I go to the weld shop, I have run into some things that I have questions on and would like to get opinions on.

First, I was originally going to remove the whole trunk storage unit, but then realized while doing it that numerous things were attached to it underneath. One of them being that gas fume tank or whatever it is. So what I did was I took it out, and cut it apart, leaving just the side for the tank to still mound to.

I figured this would give me a straight shot, but at the end, I realized that the one side is still in the way (the side I left to hold the tank). Also, as you can see in the pics below, there is still the under-cover piece.

My questions are:

1. Do I just cut the under-cover piece that is seen in the pictures back far enough where it doesn't interfere with the pipe and tip?

2. What should I do with the heat shield now that is just floating and doesn't have anything to connect to?

3. Anyone who did this, do you just leave out the piece shown in the pics below that was to hold the diffusor on primarily?

4. Also, is a worse gas mileage to be expected from this since it seems like you're creating more drag at this area?

Again, here are the pics. Any help/advice/anything is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm assuming that black canister wasn't relocated in this setup either?

nope you dont have to do that unless you do take out the extra storage compartment and convert it with the 335 storage compartment as you can see in this thread... LTBMW | E92 328 w/ Vanguard 335 exhaust

Ok, so my next question would be about the wind underneath there. Is there a lot of wind that travels under the car. Just wondering about the diffusor flexing a lot since there is more room for the air to hit and the diffusor isnt attached as much. Also wondering about age mileage going down too.

On this car it's located to the left of the left muffler, behind (above in the picture) the rear wheel. You can see the white hose headed under the cover to it.

Does anyone have any diagrams or ideas above moving that charcoal filter for the gas fumes? I'd really like to move it so I can completely remove the storage unit that it's connected to and create a completely clear shot, but the tubes connected to it don't seem that flexible in order to move it. If anyone has any thoughts or pictures on how to move it and re-mount it somewhere, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Yeah, I really want to move it, but I'm not sure how to. I really don't want to mess with disconnecting and re-connecting all the hoses involved, let alone extending them. Has anyone just relocated it slightly without too much work.

Ok, so the only issue I'm having right now is moving/relocating that gas charcoal filter. I just spent an hour taking things apart and trying to move this filter box. The hoses coming out of it are not flexible at all. I was hoping I could turn it 90 degrees to free up some room, but I'm afraid of breaking the tubes or connections. I could push it up into the free area where the storage unit use to be, but again, I worry about putting extra stresses on the connections to the filter box, and it wouldn't allow the lid/cover in the trunk to close flush. This is not the best options.

So is there no way to relocate this darn thing without modifying the tubing running to it? Please let me know.

e90 is slightly different underneath than the e92 i think..i posted a pic in post # 5 in this thread where i relocated http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=371258

I only moved it a few inches though just enough to fit snug in the bracket.

Is that just the battery compartment to the right that you bolted it to? Or did you weld the bracket to that? And how did you attach the bracket to the canister?

actually a small weld was also done up towards the top of the canister, to ensure it wouldn't slip. I will try to get better pics. The canister just "slips" into the bracket, like a cradle.

So you can weld to both the battery compartment and the vapor canister?
