How to program my factory angel eyes as drl???

I have a 2011 328i with factory halogen angel eyes. I really want my DRL's to be just the angel eyes without the parking lights(that's what I've been doing). The closest I can get is using the parking lights and turning off the daytime running lamps. Also, I have a nav system and didn't see an option under the settings to switch the 'type' of daytime running light. Maybe there is an option somewhere else in the car or possibly I have to mod the wiring. If anyone has any idea to help me I would appreciate it cuz I'm pulling the hair out of my head trying to figure it out. Thanks.

Also, the reason I want my halo's to be my DRL's is because I'm thinking about LUX angel eyes, otherwise I'm not going to spend the money for just nighttime lights..

Coding is most likely your solution, but I'm a little confused here. You have a 2011, so I assume the DRLs are already set to use the angel eyes rather than the high beams as they were in earlier model years, and initially it sounded like all you want to do is disable the side markers so that DRLs are ONLY your AEs. But then you said the closest you can get to what you want is disabling the DRLs completely and driving around with the parking lights on, which sounds like it's the complete opposite of what you want to achieve since that would turn the AEs off but keep the sidemarkers on. What's the default behavior of your car (i.e. all lights that come on when DRLs are enabled and the light switch is set to Off) and what would you prefer happened in that configuration?

Sorry about the confusion. But no, when my lights are 'off' and I have DRL enabled, the inside lamp is lit up and that's all. And yes, all I want is the Angel Eyes lit up without the corner parking lights. I was saying the only way I can come close to the set up that I want is to have the parking lights on (without the daylight lamp enabled). This way both the corona lights are on without either lamps on, however the yellow parking lights are on. The desired look I want is to have my DRL enabled and for just my four corona rings to light up during the day with my headlight setting to 'off' or auto. (without the yellow corner lights on, obviously.)

I heard something like the 2011 e90 328 sedan's are the only model that can't have this configuration without modification...

I don't have idrive and in canada DRLs are a must so I didn't have an option to turn them off.

- for the corner yellow lights you need to get them coded so that your drls would be the angel eyes only (assuming you have the option to turn off your high beam from idrive).

Search your local area to find someone who could code for you. Also search in cosmetics and lighting thread and coding thread for similar questions (I had same questions at I've point).

Lastly, IMO lux is amazing. I have a thread on that if you'd like to search.

I don't know if LUX fits the e90 sedan without xenons..so might have to downgrade to a less expensive, more compatible led angel eye.

Ok, look.

If I'm not mistaken, the LCI Halogen E90's (OP's car) have angel eyes, but are NOT the DRL's. Only the LCI with Xenon headlights run AE's as DRL.

If this is the case, you are going to need to run what you are doing (Parking lights with DRL halogen off) and get your car coded to disable the turn signal glow (Called corner delete)

Hope this helps.

EDIT: Just find someone around you that can code BMW's, or go to your dealer. Tell them to shut off the Parking light turn signal. You should be good to go

Ah, I didn't realize your 2011 didn't have xenons. In that case yes it might require hardware. There is a coding option where you can specify whether your DRLs are your halogens or AEs, but I'm not sure it would work with that particular option configuration.

You need the xenons. You'll have to replace your whole headlight set up.

so I replace the halogens for xenons for $1000-$1500, then I still need to change the bulb for white angel eyes? Will it be an H8 bulb or something different at that point?

If you HAVE angel eyes, you don't need the Xenon headlights. Just get it coded

thanks for the help I'm just confused on which 'kind' of angel eyes I could get to fit my stock halo's then after I get them coded. The LEDs all say you need to have stock HID headlights, which I don't.. so I'm guessing I need to upgrade to an HID kit instead.

No, I have the same halogen headlights as you and I use LED angel eyes, but just for the halogen headlight unit.

Go get the LUX e90 LCI Halogen Angel Eyes from LuxAngelEyes.com, then just find a local that can code your car to enable just the angel eyes on auto mode.

Or else, disable the corner lamps (blinkers) and just use your parking switch to run your AE's as DRL.

I will be doing a review between them and my previous set (weisslicht) for LCI halogens.

Yes, they are better. And you can see them in the daylight.

Maybe you can get the current stock xenons. I don't know, but you might have to swap them to the H8 bulb.

I don't mind driving with the ambers on I just want the ae's as daytime running lights without the headlights lit. Are you saying this is possible without coding?

Not possible unless u get coding done for it. Very simple and would take shop or coder 5 minutes at most.
