Fell back in love with it, and the Milgauss doesn't have the date, which I realised I couldn't live without.

This is what I'd get should I suddenly go mad and want a flashy watch:

I like a nice watch myself and it's not a status thing for me
I've also had to talk my way out of being branded a poser cock for buying a 3-er to people i don't see that often. And i know what you mean about wealthy people not trying to prove anything. A guy i work with who is now a multi-millionaire looks without wanting to stereotype the complete opposite of what you'd expect. He turn's up to business meetings in pink mr happy t-shirts, shorts and drives a new-ish civic with a number plate worth more than the car. He's very successful and driven person, but unless you see his house, you'd never know how wealthy he was. |

This is what happens when watch 'one upmanship' goes too far:
I actually really like watches and sort of understand why people buy expensive brands. But I can't think of any other area where the law of diminishing returns applies to such a massive extent. In my opinion at least 75% of the cost of a rolex pays for marketing and the 'brand'. I admire the engineering, but for me thats as far as it goes. |
