I posted in the for sale section hoping to find a used one. If I ever can find one for a good price, I am going to dyno before and after... but theres not telling if that will ever happen.

Did he do a Dyno before? Otherwise a Dyno is useless

Gotta have a before Dyno run to benchmark compare to the after installation Dyno Run. You going to do both?

If you have a 328i or lower i would just do the 330i Manifold swap before spending the money on this. Dinan says 5 Hp, but it's going to cost you $700 or more for the throttle body before the core credit. So it cost $399 but that is based on you sending your old throttle body back to them. It not worth it, my option is if you have done everything possible to your car and have nothing else to spend your money on then I would get one.

sounds like the most logical thing... the trend i see is that bolt-on mods help each other out in giving a power boost to your car... if you have ram air, fresh/cold air intake already, and throw a 80mm TB on there... you will see greater results (at 70mph+ for Ram Air) because of the 8% air flow... but from stock you probably won't see much results... an finely tuned ECU may see the increases air flow also and give you more visible results, not sure though...

-i'm just guessing... i don't have an 80mm TB, just going off what i've read up on in other forums

Clearly the guy did not realize it was from 2010 the last post as he responded to him directly

I never understand how people will search threads and go back so many pages and then respond as if it was a current thread!

On another note the throttle body is a total waste

what's your insight on this throttle body?

All they did was bore it out by 3mm, put a slightly bigger throttle body in there, and polished it... O_o

Another post i found regarding this was a guy had put on his 330i: Supersprint headers, Vorsteiner Titanium Exhaust, BMS PBX, and K&N filter... he claims he went from 265whp to 279whp by throwing a bored (80mm) TB on there... so i guess all the accessories add up in the long run [i can't find the link again... >__<']

Ok so,
I got one of these from an 06 330i owner and I have a 2011 328i. I have the 3 stage manifold, and my oem tb - but the connectors for the actuators seem different. What am I missing?

Took the stock one off and it's a different shaped connector, but I did notice it's the same 6 pin pattern. Same wiring on the wiring diagram too. Got confirmation from a tech today as well, the shape of the connector to the actuator is just different is all. So I'm gonna try to retro fit; he says were fine to do a wire splice with an old female connector but I don't wanna splice at all so I'm gonna get a connector repair kit and pick out the old wires and stick them in the corresponding connector housing.

yeah I'm not convinced that BMW didn't change the plugs because the electronics are slightly different.

you'll know when it self calibrates if it puts you in limp mode or not - but hopefully it works.

I thought it pretty much acted only as a choke and a backup throttle in case of vvt failure? What's getting calibrated? Plate angle?

haven't had any issues on this so far, I'm trying to figure out if I should do a write up on it or not. It's a pretty straight forward wire-connector swap. can be a pain without a wire pick tool, tho.
There is a pretty big hop in acceleration, I'm gonna Dyno sometime next week.

This is really great news, thanks! RiotRacing sells bored TBs for the N52 in the 330i so now that it's clear it works with a little rewiring I'm off to get one of them to try out as well. Gotta love them science experiments, eh?
