Just to add the Faust ship holds nearly 3,500 cars and is huge!! So if your at the port, I bet your on this ship tomorrow.

Theres no way his car is leaving tomorrow if its just awaiting transport now. That stage alone takes around a week.

I read it holds close to 7000 cars, nonetheless, I hope it does infact get on a ship tomorrow, but I highly doubt it--knowing my luck Kline also has a ship leaving tomorrow- Aegean Highway but since my car is headed to "SSIPOA" which is Brunswick, the only chance of leaving tomorrow is the Faust- After that its next weeks Integrity and Elektra. we'll see---nothing updated yet with my VIN on 2w's website--and I'm not sure if my CA would have more info? All I know is my car got to port late last night. |

Vikz, Since you seem like you have been following this process so thoroughly, would you mind me asking you to walk through the day by day production progress (with dates) so that we could all get a sense for the timeline from Production beginning to Arriving at Bremerhaven? I can see how long the ships take to travel to the US but the timeline of manufacturing is less clear. For example, yesterday (October 13) my CA emailed to tell me that my car "jumped to 150" but that it wasn't really going to be manufactured until next week (the week of October 19th). Today (October 14), I called the BMW 800 number and it said "Your vehicle is in production. Your estimated completion date is October 21, 2009." So I am not sure if my car is truly in production, or if it is really just scheduled for production next week like my CA said. When did your car "jump to 150" and on what day did the BMW 800 number (or your CA) tell you that "Your vehicle is in production." Would also be interesting to hear if your "estimated completion date" changed at all during the manufacturing process. Thank you in advance. |

Sure, no problem.
I placed my order with deposit on 10/2-- At this point I got my order sheet with production # etc. I was a status 111. On Monday 10/5- I was at a status 112(scheduled for production) I called my CA and he said my car would be built the following week (week 42) On Tuesday 10/6- My car began production (body shop?) and was at a status 150 Wednesday 10/7- I was at status 151 (per BMW 800# "your vehicle is scheduled for production with an estimated completion date of 10/13) Thursday 10/8- didnt find out my status, but 800# said the same thing- but BMW NA rep said it is in the paint shop. Friday 10/9- 800# said same thing, but BMW NA rep said car was out of paint shop. Saturday/Sunday- 800# said "car is in paint shop with estimated completion date of 10/13. Monday 10/12- BMW NA rep said car was in "Assembly" - 800# still said paint shop. Tuesday 10/13- CA emailed me a screen shot, showing my car was produced, and "dispatched from Ag" which is status 190. 800# still said in paint shop. BMW NA rep said car was on the way to port. Wednesday 10/14- BMW NA rep told me car arrived at port early that day. My CA said theres a good chance it would leave pretty soon since it was marked as a priority 1 sold car. I highly doubt it though. I'm sure she'll sit there till next week's ship leaves. I believe today there are 2 ships leaving--no other ships leave for the U.S until 10/21-- Kline, then 10/22, and 10/24 are WW ships. The 800# "estimated time" seemed to be right on during the process. Production stage took a week (including the weekend) and car left factory same day it was produced. Arrived at port in 1 day. Hope that helps. |

Thank you very much
Great info. Congrats on being completed a little early an getting to the port so quickly. Best of luck getting on a boat soon.
I am hopeful that mine will be finished 2 days early versus the initial estimation of 10/21, like yours was. Would like to be able to catch the Elektra leaving Bremerhaven on 10/24 but I recognize that I am cutting it very close. Thanks again. |

well maybe--but I still doubt it--I called WW yesterday and spoke to someone in logistics- who also couldnt find my car--according to her, if its on the ship, it would've shown up by now--we'll see, still hoping.

Well here's an interesting one for you
My car has been in status 150 since Tuesday October 13 with an estimated completion date of 10/21/09.
However, this morning I called the 800 number and it said "your car is scheduled for production with no estimated completion date." It's as if I have gone back to status 112. Anyone else ever have this happen to them? Very odd. I spoke to someone on the 800 number and they said "we don't have any more information"....not encouraging and very strange. Would love to hear from someone else who had a similar experience to let me know how this turns out. Salesman's day off today so don't know how to get any other info. oh well. |

very strange for the 800# reps not to have any info for you--they are usually on top of it until it gets to port.
As far as the automated 800 status #--that # is not reliable at all...my car has been at port since Tuesday, and the # still says "your car is in the paint shop, with an estimated completion date of 10/13" so dont bother with that #... Your car is prob in the body shop..or some stage of production right now..Oct 20/21 is prob when you'll get done...and if its like me, you'll get to port one day after completion... then..good luck..theres a ship leaving on 10/21, one on 10/22, and one on 10/24. seems like the norm is to wait at port for a week before you get a ship---you might be there till the next batch on 11/4 or so...unless you get lucky. these next few steps are the worst I tell you--This is my 3rd time going through this ordering process, and it gets worse each time. |

This is also my 3rd time ordering...
You're right, it never gets easier.
It is nice to commiserate with someone though and I appreciate your help and knowledge. And as a follow-up, my salesman called me (on his day off...pretty nice) and said everything is still on track. He did say there was no way I was going to make that ship on the 24th. He said it usually takes 2-3 days to catch the train to bremerhaven and people typically wait 5 days at Bremerhaven for a ship. Sometimes I think that having more information (the 800 #, website, etc) creates more anxiety than if we just assumed it would take 75 days and were pleasantly surprised if it came early...of course, where's the fun in that? BTW, your link to the Munich plant virtual tours is phenomenal. I think I have watched it like 30 times. Thanks. Best of luck getting on the ship and have a good weekend. |
