I just ordered a new S5... won't be delivered until Sept '13 after my deployment... But other than comparable 'stock' performance, the only reason I didn't get another 335is or to compliment the X5 was the measurements. I wanted a coupe, not a sedan and in the 335 coupe, my head was touching the roof, with the S5 I have plenty of headroom.
As for the comment on not a lot of mods available for the S5, APR has a great tune and S/C pulley Stage II tune, intakes are available for the V6 S/C and APR is releasing a Stg III pkg pretty soon (replacing the S/C)... Giac also has a tune available, so the possibilities are there for this platform as well... I'm not abandoning BMW, as I will still have the X5 (even if my wife is driving it), but never hurts to sample the other side of the line/

Since the S4 is basically the same as the S5, take a look at this Motortrend comparo. Not only does woman prefer the S5, but most of the professional reviewers do as well.

I believe your comparo is the F30 335i with some crappy tires vs. the 335is e92 that we're debating here. A HUGE difference there...

DCT's are still closer to an AT than a MT, the car does most of the work. I've said it before but unless you're tracking a car then I see little point in DCT. |

In S5 vs 335i, she misquoted. She said the S5 is 450bhp and the 335i is 50hp short. S5 is 420bhp and 335i is 120hp down but STILL is almost as fast. Anyway, she was wrong with her numbers

Ask how many DCT owners what needs to be done to avoid clutch slippage Ask how many DCT owners how to engage performance mode at WOT while being able to predict The DME Do you think I got the ET in my sig based on me just flooring the throttle ? The same rules in MT of knowing when to shift in RPM vs MPH applies the same to those who use the Manual mode in the DCT Last edited by BQTuning; 01-24-2013 at 07:06 PM.. |

The old one was a V8... so not much tuning capability (unless you poor a ton of money into the car, in which case, you would be better off with a faster stock car...)
The new one is a single turbo V6 (if I'm not mistaken), so again, some more tuning capability, but not as much as the 335i/335is. The 335i, and especially the DCT with the true N54 twin turbo, $500 gets you +100hp and +100tq... Quote:

Stasis ecu gets you just over 400hp and they have 50,000 mile warranty. Anybody do that for BMW ?
