Here's a question for all you guys in the Northeast who have probably run with NJ CCA a bunch of times... what's the best recommended routine for pre-event tech? I got the form from http://www.njbmwcca.org/util/get_file.php?file_id=293 but just want to make sure everything's sorted, especially lines 13-18.
I have jacks and will be putting the car up to flush/ replace the brake fluid this week, and am not too unfamiliar with the car, but want to make sure I'm properly vetting the required bits. Any quick tips/ guidance for testing if I can get under and poke around myself? Specifically around OK'ing mounts/bearings/ non obvious visual stuff. Thanks

Other than the brakes I would eyeball and put a hand on the specified parts to check for looseness or play. Keep in mind that some of these items are problem areas for other models (i.e. subframe on E30 and E36). Regarding brakes, besides flushing the fluid (high quality, high temp fluid (ATE200 at the least)), I would err on the conservative side regarding pad thickness. Depending on your level of aggressiveness, you could swap hotter pads and not worry about it. If you're sticking with stock pads, a spare set is not a bad idea. HTH |

Interesting weekend, who would've known it'd be mid to high 80's all weekend.
Weekend recap: 1) Cooked my RS3's, went 4 off and lost a kidney grill (but still looks better than Will's home depot brake ducting) 2) If you need an engineer, hire Art - he's legit 3) I think all 3 of us got sunburned lol And acting as camera man for Will once again... |

Haha, Had a great weekend as well. After a bad day on thunderbolt last year I had sworn it off. I have since changed my mind.
See some you at Summit Main in 2 weeks! My favorite track.

Yeah there was one tire blow out on Saturday, so they were extra vigilant with tech on Sunday with tire inspections.
First time I've seen a Fisker being tracked.

Countdown to Nov 2 begins. I'm thinking finish the season with SS and begin 2014 by ripping it with fresh R-comps =P
Yes Will, I finally went to the other side... |

Follow forecast all week, if weather looks iffy I'll run the SS Z1's I picked up used. If not, I'll be running the R888's which supposedly are good "intro" R-comps that can be drive to/from track and can handle wet conditions. And when I say intro, I mean still gives feedback like street tires and can slide through turns when they overheat. If budget allows l'll run 2 sets all year and maybe even try NT01's eventually. But assuming I get 25-30 heat cycles out of the R888's I'll only be running them for 4 events (May - Aug).

With that said, I'm not expecting to get a 8 weekends out of them but I think 4 is realistic. I'm just getting bored with DE's these days and I realized only way it'll get exciting is if I can shave my lap times. Also even though NT's last longer, I didn't want to switch to such an aggressive compound on my first try. Want to get used to R-comps because I heard it changes everything, it's like learning how to drive a new car. Porsche hunting at it's finest! Last edited by 3002 tii; 10-14-2013 at 10:26 PM.. |

BMW CCA will require you to have a brake fluid flush within 6 months prior to the event. Otherwise just sign up - www.motorsportreg.com. Events are pretty much done for this year, but they start up in mid-April or so.

To add to what CJ stated. If your car is a convertible PCA is your friend, BMWCCA will not allow you to run convertibles without a permanent roll bar installed.

Actually not sure about that. PCA will allow covertibles assuming the car is equipped with factory roll bars or hoops like s2000, z4, boxster. But not sure where the e93 falls.
