anyone have an e92 with standard M sport suspension? pls help

Quick question, do new shocks and springs settle lower after theyve been fitted? Just had brand new LCI shocks and springs off a delivery mileage m sport car fitted to my se, it looks at least as high as before! Does handle a lot better though.

AFAIK All e92's have the same m sport suspension, regardless of whether it was an SE or M sport. I know my SE had M sport suspension as standard and was an option to delete rather than add.

E90's and e91's You had to order an m sport or spec m-sport suspension.

That only applies to the E92 335. No other model.

If you wanted lowered suspension, then just swapping to m sport setup isn't the way to go as the front end still sits too high.

And yes, they will settle over time but don't expect much...

Mine is the 330d. Kevin Bird drove it and confirmed it had se shocks and springs as standard. I know m sport isnt all that low but I was after a bit of a drop! It does drive very nicely now though

You say "shocks & dampers" which are the same thing, did you change the springs which I assume will be shorter on an m sport setup?

In SE trim the only E92's to leave the factory with Msport suspension as standard were the 335's as someone has already stated.

As a matter of interest I have an e91 msport with 'msport suspension deletion' and to be honest it looks hardly any higher than my previous car, an e90 msport, and really, to me, the ride feels no different - it just soaks up the bumps a little better.

Though changing from 18" rft's to 19" non rft's does to some extent expose the boundaries of the 'se' suspension, therefore some experimentation with tyre pressure is needed for the best possible compromise between the two set-ups.

as i found out recently, in many cases the sport springs are not that much lower in ride height. Its often dependant on engine, weight of car etc.

Even the spec only calls for a 15mm drop between SE and Sport. I dont think you'd notice 15mm that easilly, and to be honest sagging SE shocks/springs could easilly be sitting a bit lower than brand new sport parts.

My E90 has the sport suspension, and it looks quite high. But the ride definitely tells you that theres some firm springs under there!

Remember you can spec msport models without msports suspension these days.

So maybe your donor car hadn't got the suspension option?

Its defo m sport sus. Had it fitted at Birds and they are very goood at what they do. There is a huge difference in the way the car handles on this LCI sus over the old se,just a shame about the height. Oh well

Ive measured the gap from the middle of the BMW badge to the bottom edge of the wheel arch, its just over 15inches front and 14inches rear, is this normal for M sport springs and dampers? Any help would be good please

Well ive measured the height again and its still 15inch front and 14inch rear. Does anybody have M sport suspension on an e92?? Would be a great help if you could measure your wheel gaps. This would help me alot. Thanks

Hi E92 330d !

Intrigued by your post so I've spent a few moments this afternoon between the showers measuring mine ... it's an Oct '09 built (so pre-lci) e92 330d SE but speced from the factory with "Option 704 M Sport suspension". Mileage is nearly 15k. (It runs on style 189 18" staggered alloys - in your pics yours look like style 230 19"s, but I don't think the size of the wheel matters here. It shouldn't alter the distance from the wheel arch to the wheel's centre).

I measured from under the lip of the arch, straight down to the centre of the BMW roundel on the wheel cap - but holding the measure to it and allowing the measure to flex slightly around the tyre and into the 'dish' of the wheel (in other words, the tape wasn't quite vertical nor straight !!).

And the answers I got are as follows ...

front nearside 14.50 ins front offside 14.25 ins
rear nearside 13.33 ins rear offside 13.0 ins

(Virtually nothing in the boot, but 60 litres of Shell's finest in the tank).

Which has made me think either
1. the drivers side has sagged 'cos I've been eating pies OR
2. BMW do (as has been suggested on here) build the cars leaning slightly to the right ready for German businessmen to sit on the left !!

Anyway, I hope those figures help you.

None of my business I know, but I'm curious to know what happened to the "delivery mileage m sport" donor car in your first post ??

Cheers from hey joe
