Getting my cobb today. Should I start out with the official v3 or v401 maps? Also, do you think I should start on the drive map or start with the sport map and log right away? Also for logging, is it true that only WOT logs are helpful?

Thanks.

Start on sport unless you're afraid of a few hp lol...Im here in sd as well and run sport stage 2+ fmic....You can log if you want...Just make sure you put only 91 octane in it and from a top tier gas station (chevron, shell, 76, etc)

Start with the v3 maps, the v4s are beta so you'll want to make sure your car is responding well to the tune 1st. If you only have access to 91 octane, you're limited to Drive + Sport. If you have access to 93, you can also use Aggressive. You can probably start with Sport & log a 3rd/4th full-gear pull @ WOT -- so we're talking from 2.5k all the way to ~6.5k without lifting off.

I have customers that use both setups. I'm going to my buddies this weekend to uninstall his Cobb for emissions and i will update it on how long it takes from what i remember it was a decent amount of time. Seemed way longer then 1-2 minutes, but maybe that was on older firmware.

I like both units We work closely with Cobb in other markets, just not the BMW yet.

Why are you uninstalling it for emissions? All you should need is an 02 sim. You should be able to leave the AP installed on whatever map you usually run.

Install and Uninstall take about 30 min and 15 min respectively, map changes take about 1 minute +/-.

LOL, whatever floats his boat! If he is catless then he needs a sim, if he isn't and removes the AP, thus resetting the ECU, he will have to cycle the O2 readiness again.... If he is looking to go in soon he may fail due to not having readiness.

I know you weren't asking or looking for advice, but you got it anyway

I guess I don't understand why you are having trouble keeping things straight. 1-2 minutes is for map changing on same logic. Uninstalling will take longer because you are changing the logic files putting the stock files back on. Not sure why you seem to be misunderstanding that so I'll make it even more clear.

Install
**20-25minutes to download stock map and install cobb map

Map Change
**1-2 minutes if same logic / behind the same code
**10 minutes if different logic / code (race to regular, different versions, etc.)

Uninstall
**10-15 minutes to load stock tune back on since it is different
coding

I'm not having a problem, what's your problem? You seem to have a big problem. Why don't you just air it out.

So the map change is not 1-2 minutes it varies. You did a better job at explaining. So from standard to linear is also 10 mins correct (Same Version)?

Just want to triple check -- If I cure all the misfire issues I'm having & fix the o2 Sensors, on Stage 2+FMIC the COBB will cancel out any tuner codes (triggered by the DPs) so I won't have to drive around with a SES/CEL light on (unless there's a real, outside problem)????

Correct. The Cobb eliminates the O2/Cat codes, but you will need an O2 simulator to pass through emissions.

Thanks,

Michael

As long as logic doesnt change it will be a quick change. Switching standard / stock throttle to linear throttle is just a table change. You are changing how the pedal affects tq request and tps angle at different loads and rpms.

I don't have a problem. I just hate when people (mainly vendors) have agendas and you aren't one I've seen have one in the past but I thought I'd make sure early lol. Too many people run around here thinking they know what they are talking about and spread misinformation and propaganda of vendors that may or may not have too much persuation through that transfrer of bs info. Again - I haven't seen you do that.
