Just wanted to try a different one. I have serious mod problems going on right now...trying different setups...I'm on my 3rd bumper for God's sake...

So if you get the stand alone aFe Stage 2 SI that used the stock snorkel you can upgrade it to the Stage 2 "Elite" by getting the snorkel kit They are claiming 14-hp and 27-tq over stock with the elite version. Not sure if this is whp or wtq rated but it will be clarified. If it is whp/wtq rated then I should see minimum 5 whp / 15 wtq gains on the next dyno |

Black / Permanent Waterproof Seal / All Weather Weeks later I pulled the intake to clean it up. Used a sharp nife to cut the ugly caulk bleed and added more seal and smoothen it out. This can be done the first time though to do it right Last edited by BQTuning; 05-03-2012 at 12:12 AM.. |

I installed mine over the weekend. I see what others mean by the quality. I'm not going to complain but I can say that there aren't any untrue statements in here. Oh, and at least put your logo on the right way... this will drive me nuts:

Any idea when aFe will start making the intake with your "suggested revisions". Debating between buying this & making the changes myself or waiting for the aFe build version.

Last I heard they were preparing to make the "gasket kit" for the current Stage 2 CAI product, and after this is when they will start on the Stage 3 enthusiast or extreme model

I installed mine this weekend. Super easy install. So far so good. I'll also spring for a gasket kit when they become available (maybe even upgrade to the Elite version).

There is a new intake module coming for the N54 yes. If it will be called a Stage 3 or not is just a misnomer being used
Tuesday October 2 2012 "Honestly we have been very involved with other development the last few quarters. We are about to release a module for N54, N55, N63 and N20 but it’s definitely for the simple bolt-on owner, not the highly modified vehicles like yours. My engineer has been loaned out to help the Diesel team and once he is back, he will jump on BMW again." |

Hopefully Buraq is right on the development of an even more improved intake, but I think there probably won't be a new CAI coming from aFe anytime soon. |

Yeah, that's what I hope too. Since I only have a few more pieces in my E90 upgrade project left that I'm doing and the CAI is one of them.

Nope, Nada...looks like I am going to have to find someone to make these if and when I get the opportunity. I am much more confident with the intake now since I am pushing 18 - 19 psi running the PTF E50 map and is keeping up with the turbo demands.
I think what is really needed is a gasket for the cover only. Cealing up the side is so easy and cheap but then again not everyone is a DIY person |
