Bad/broken MEVD172 - Common?
Have anyone had to replace their DME in their early N55? It's the MEVD172?
After I left the car at the dealer for a Valvetronic servomotor replacement the car won't start anymore. They replced the Eccentric shaft after that due to "sluggish movement" codes. But that din't help the car to start. They have updated and reprogrammed the DME, still the same, the car won't start. The dealer said something like the car is throwing codes on engine electronics Now they think the DME bricked/broken/bad, yet they have to make sure the harness is OK before replacing that expensive badboy. So my question is, have anyone replaced their MEVD172? I'm asking because I know the early N54 MSD80 had problems, then replaced with the MSD81 from 2008+. Thought maybe the N55 have had som problems too? Last edited by sx33; 07-27-2015 at 02:38 PM.. |

I fill up here..
My car have prosuction date 2010-11. When I look at RealOEM I can see that the DME have been superseeded 5 times, totally 6 DME's. The first DME with partnumber 12147610272 - from: 03/01/2010, is the DME that should be in my car because next DME was introduced first in 2011, after my car was built that is. Funni thing is when browsing all theese the title says "Basic control unit DME". Except for when I look at my DME from 2010, then it says "RMFD Basic control unit DME" Doesn't RMFD mean "Remanufactured" or something similar? This makes me think there have a problem adressed to the specific DME partnumber and they have been rebuilt or something? Anyway, all of the superseeded are discontinued except for the latest with partnumber 12148618483 which is from 03/15/2013 |
