I use 4-5 gallons a day for my roundtrip to work. The problem is people are hoarding with the jugs. They need to prioritize who can get gas. Medical professionals, police officers should be priority. Do you really want a hospital understaffed because their staff ran out of gas?

I'm in Port Jefferson too. I filled up at BP by 347 this morning with regular but put an octane booster in the tank before filling up so hopefully it will run okay.

You don't need to go too far north, over the bridge is a bit better. White plains you may wait behind 3 or 4 cars..tarrytown the same. Some ny towns off 95 were hit hard along the coast, yonkers, new rochelle, larchmont. I work in greenwich CT and either there is no line or a line of 5 or 6 cars max. The problem is gas stations seem to get one delivery a day and it is gone by afternoon..or they get it in the evening and gone by the next day..so they station that was open today is closed tomorrow..

Nothing like the hell that is in queens...I saw and its just blocks and blocks
so many stations are just closed in the boroughs that the few open are crushed/

Just got another half tank of regular at the Hess on 347@Stony Brook Road but haven't gone to adding octane booster... yet. So far that is a tank and a half of regular and the car runs "fine" but I'm concerned that a fuel addative could pose a warranty problem in the event there were any sort of fuel/engine issue. Unfounded?

Went there because it was "reported" they had premium but was not the case when I got to the pumps. Line was about 20 minutes so not too bad.

Cuomo keeps saying that the gas "situation" should ease quickly, and won't pull the trigger on odd/even rationing, but I think that's a mistake. In my opinion he is performing as poorly as the LIPA bosses he keeps chewing out, can you say "deflection"?

Lines are getting shorter but still no premium to be had, wonder what is really going on...

I don't know if they have premium but the line didn't look to bad. I only passed there.

Gentleman...not going to supply the shortage but check hessexpress.com as they are updating their inventories every 2 hours, including the Premium we covet

Also icyhot if you want to prioritize who gets gas, it's simple. Let the gas stations charge as much as they can per gallon. At $10/gallon, only people in dire need (doctors, people running generators) are going to be filling up. The price gouging laws are driving me crazy as I drive past these long lines. If stations charged $10/gallon, you would see tons of people showing up from out of state selling it cheaper trying to make some money. There would be so much gas in the area that this shortage would become a surplus within 3 days.

/end daily price-gouging rant
