Pay more for car BMW warranty?

If buying used BMW private party how much more would you pay vs car without?

I have 09 with Idrive and contemplating purchasing 7/100 platinum, or one year longer and better coverage than CPO.

Realistically what surcharge might someone pay if I sell after year? Would you pay same for 3rd party warranty vs BMW?

Thanks

I'd pay more for a car with warranty as compared to the same exact car without warranty but it's difficult to quantify how much more since it's impossible to get the same two cars with or without warranty (diff drivers, mileage, location etc that all affect long term reliability).

I think it's probably not a great idea to buy warranty for resale value but if I had to answer your question I'd probably pay something close to $1000 premium for a car that has the extra warranty if it was over 40k miles. And to your second question, I'd also be more interested in a car with BMW warranty than a third party warranty that I don't really have experience with and may have special terms.

There's usually enough cars available with factory/CPO warranty that I'm not usually even looking at cars that don't have any kind of warranty though so I'm a little biased.

Appreciate the input. At 49k now and car will be at 60-70k when the time to look for a nice IS. Like you figure people won't even bother with used 335s out of warranty. The only down side to the BMW warranty is there is no pro-rated refund after you have had a claim, vs third party's which do. And they don't charge you an extra $500 to cover the factory NAV and Radio.

Thanks.
