Yeah, whenever you do "Process car" in expert mode it resets all modules to their default values based on the VO. You have to redo any custom coding you've done up to that point.

Normally, yes it should be as easy as that. The trick is knowing which VO code to add to the vehicle and the bigger trick is making sure you have everything else plugged up and all the right modules installed for what you are trying to do.

That would be a great idea. A lot of people love the alarm retrofit but never had the proper way to code the alarm.

Is it normal for your FSW_PSW.TRC to have changes in lines you DIDN'T code? This is what I did to code the digital speedometer. My car is a 11/06 built 2007 E92 328xi with S/W updated 8/09.

Followed the NCS_DIY.pdf guide, but had to update the daten files because I was getting a faulty VIN error in NCS. So when I got to the point where the first FSW_PSW.TRC [~220KB] was created from CAS (the backup), I took a look and noticed that it said it was already enabled. It looked like this:

I continued on and when I downloaded the KOMBI module into FSW_PSW.TRC [~10KB] I renamed it as .MAN. The code in KOMBI looked like this:

Using a file comparison program, I came up with 34 changes between the original file and the new one. I think the KOMBI options were different than CAS and this is what was recoded to make them match.. Is this normal?

Why do you have to activate all those values. The VO should take care of that. Also using the +K302 vo code yields better results as this is the retrofit alarm vo option.

BMW's VO's have different "words" in the values that represent different things.

The main "words" are E words, K words and SA words. SA words are the regular $ codes we all know and love. K words are essentially retrofit words used to code in official retrofits. E words are for the battery information.



My car had the MP3 functionallity retrofitted to the vehicle because it didn't become from the factory that way. So when it was retofitted, the K word +KMP3 was added to the vehicle order.

You can technically still use $302 in your VO and things should work fine, but the official OEM way for performing the retrofit is using the K word +K302. That's what Progman and ISTA/P would do if you used them to retrofit it.

Yeah, I was always wondering if there is a code, for let's say - just adding the M-Sport Perforated Leather Steering Wheel with Tri Stitching, or the Homelink/EC/Alarm/Compass Rearview Mirror seperately without actually adding the premium Pkg to the VO.

I added both, but don't have the Premium Pkg. Would like to have them in the VO so if I leave them in when trade-in time comes - I will get credit for those options.

Obviously adding Premium Pkg to VO would be noticed as incorrect as there are many other items my car does not have that anyone knowledgeable would pick up (mebbe that leaves out any BMW salsemen )

However, it states you can only have a maximum of 10 K words in the FA (VO).

Also Nachruestung means Retrofitting which should help out a little bit.
