Do you guys keep your car looking "perfect"?

So I bought my 2007 335 couple in great condition. The interior is flawless, and the exterior looks great as well. The only thing about the exterior is it has a few scratches on the corner of the rear bumper, and the from bumper has a tiny hold, the size of a pea, on the very bottom part of it (you would literally have to be up close and know it was there to see it).

I love this car so much and want it to look perfect, so I was considering having both bumpers repainted. This would cost about 1000. I could also touch it up, but I know it would not look much better than it does now if I went with that option. Do you think I am being too obsessive with these things, do you guys keep your cars looking "perfect" or accept little things like this when they happen?

I try to keep mine as perfect as possible, and was pretty obsessed about things like that when I first got my car, but I've come to accept that things will happen, especially if it's a daily driver.

Still, I park as far away/careful as possible when I go out among the general populace and leave myself tons of room between me and the car in front of me when on the freeway. I've already had to replace the windshield once, don't want to do it again .

I'm crazy about keeping my car clean and always perfectly presentable. Getting my bumpers redone on Monday as people have damaged them both by failing at parallel parking. All I can offer for advice is to remember to enjoy the car by driving it and not scrutinizing every little imperfection.

Also, stay out of the Photo and Video forum, it will drive you nuts thinking people's cars look that perfect every second of every day. Good luck!

Yeah my 335 is my daily driver, and I work in Philadelphia so anything can happen lol. I think if I painted my bumpers something else would inevitably happen, so spending 1k would kind of be a waste of money. I'm not gonna lie though, the bumpers not looking perfect is driving me nuts lol.

When I got the car the first time, I was in love with it for several weeks. I would wash it once a week and babied it like no other. Now I'm just like whatever. I still clean and baby it every now and then but not like how I used to do it.

I wash it every weekend. Wax/seal it anywhere from 4-6 times a year and do a total overhaul paint correction once a year. Interior gets cleaned once a month because I don't eat or drink in it except water and im usually the only one in my car except on weekends. I usually wipe down the surfaces with interior cleaner, clean glass, condition/protect the leather, and vacuum out the car. Spray wax is applied after every wash to prolong the sealant/wax protection. Im incredibly anal about my car.

When you first get the car... You baby it and clean it every week and maybe wipe it down every other day.

after a year or two you wash it once every two weeks. Or "maybe" once a month?

once you buy something new for it, like new rims... You repeat this again.

Most men are like this. You get tired of something after a while, you stop caring. you get an upgrade... Or something new, you are all over it again.

You vacuum your car after every drive?

Do you only drive it once a week? or have OCD? (no offense)

No offence taken. I drive it every 2-3 days. I use a Red Devil minivac after *every* drive (just the driver's footwell). Yes, I am OCD with my cars (and sportbike). I was worse in my teen years. If I was on the freeway and just one bug would splatter on the windshield, I'd exit just to clean it. I keep detail spray and microfiber cloths in all my cars. Did I mention I'm OCD when it comes to my fuel-powered machines?

I just purchased a '10 E92 (sport package) in Monaco Blue. Not a swirl mark on it, so I'm learning how to clay bar and do it right.

But perfect - nah. We have snow and salt here in PA, and there are times you just can't be perfect.

Good replies, thanks guys. I think I am going to get my bumpers fixed, I just don't want to drop 1k to do it. Perhaps touch up paint? I have a few deep scratches on the corner of my rear bumper and a tiny, tiny hole in the very bottom part of my front bumper. Do you guys think touch up pain and filler for the hole would work? I know it wouldn't look perfect but maybe just better than it does now...

I keep it clean, overall.
But it's just a car.

I do what I can to protect the investment, but it's a machine, and it will get used and used up.

I'll get upset over scratches or things breaking, but as long as it stays mostly dust-free inside and clean, I'm good.

Someone hits or scratches it, then we have a problem.

^This. I wash it every two weeks, clean the interior maybe once a month (I don't usually have passengers so it's just me and my dirt which is not much). It's my daily so it is impossible to keep it perfect. It is still cleaner than 95% of cars on the road.

+1

Hard to keep a black daily driver spotless. Would be nice, but just not realistic. Not enough hours in the day between work and kids activities.

First got the car Atlanta GA. Hated bug stains. Car's in the driveway every Sunday for at least 4 hrs cleaning every single thing I could put my hands on. Then winter hit. Couldn't do the washing myself. After 4 mnths of winter weather and no wash I was fed up. I went to a stupid car wash down from my house. Dude seriously looked at me with dirty spots on my car and said he was done. I didn't argue I left and currently waiting for a nice warm day I can scour beauty ---properly

Its best not to condition the steering wheel and shift knob. Its not safe to do so. You should only clean them. BTW leather conditioner does nothing to our seats and only sits on top of the leather in modern day cars. The leather has a coating on top of it and will not absorb conditioner. You need a leather protector/sealer for it to last.

I try my best, but I am not obsessed over it. I wash/wax it whenever I have some free time (done that yesterday ), I dont try to fit this stuff in my schedule.

Used to do it when I lived in the suburbs but after I moved downtown it was impossible to wash myself and honestly I just stopped caring like I did before. And there's a major flaw on my front bumper that makes it look hideous, been telling myself I'll fix it tomorrow for over six months
