dS(sport mode) strain on engine?

hi guys,
i got a e90 325i lci auto, wanted to ask your'll in (DS)sport mode do i have to use the paddle to change the gear or will the car change it just fine? i accelerated to 6.5k prm on 2nd gear & had to press the brake cause of some prick who just crossed the road the car decelerated very aggressively from 6.5k rpm is that ok? no strain to the engine? in sport mode the car really is loud, i can hear even the exhaust, feels so ncie compare to normal drive mode. Its ok to decelerated like that no harm to the engine? sorry i m a newbie to automatics.

Thanks..
