Logic 7 Add Tweeter to Center Channel / Correct ohms / Part # / Imaging / Sound Stage

I have a logic 7 stereo and went ahead with the add a tweeter mod found here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=420444

I went ahead and tried ordering tweeter part # 65139217912 that was indicated as the right one, deeper in the thread. Tischer ran my VIN and said I'd need the tweeter with part # 65136919363. I figured the one they suggested would be more compatible with my amp and went ahead with the one they suggested. It came in a plastic molding that probably fits in the sail panels or rear deck as they didn't know i intended to use it in the center channel. I was able to cut the actual tweeter out of the molding and put in next to the center channel in the dash

The tweeter is clearly marked as 4 ohm. I'm a little rusty on ohms and crossovers and inline filters but I know the stock speakers run at 2 ohms. Not sure how the bass filter affects the ohms the amp sees. So is my tweeter getting reduced power because its 4 ohm or is this one fine? I'm not even sure if when plugging the tweeter in if that wires it in parallel or in series to the OEM midrange driver.

My other option, is I have 2 old MB Quart tweeters. I believe they are 4 ohm but I'm not really sure. I'm trying to get feedback from MB Quart. If I was to wire BOTH of these in parallel to the inline filter that came with the BMW tweeter, and then plug it into the midrange would that get me a little more volume out of the center channel. Assuming they are 4 ohm would hooking both them up put to much strain on the amp and possibly blow it or cause distortion and degradation of sound quality?

With just the BMW it tweeter helps a little with imaging but with Logic 7 off or in logic 7 music mode, the sound still originates from the drivers sail panel. Its worst without logic 7 on it and tolerable on logic 7 music if I move the balance a few clicks towards the passenger side but I'd rather not do that. In Cinema mode the staging is actually very good and originates fro m the center of the dash. I feel that cinema directs the most power to the center channel and helps imaging. However on cinema mode the sound isn't as focued and it sounds like it messes with the EQ and uses a curve less than optimal for music.

I figure if i can get a little more volume out of the center channel then I can leave it on Logic 7 music mode, get the focused sound, and still get a nice centered sound stage.

That sounds like the right tweeter. Make sure it is receiving power. In music setting image should have shifted towards dead straight in front of you.

If you want the center image to be brighter, yes you could wire the two mbquart tweets in parallel. It would be 3bB louder. Just don't make things to shrill...

Also that would probably force you to block most of the airflow from both center vents.

Wait, just looked at the pics you added. Where is the in-line crossover? Why did you cut the wires?
