Ok, I've read most of the thread, but I'm still having a hard time putting it in my head. Can anyone make a summary on how to do this? I'm going to read it again. Thanks

This is how it works. You cut the pipe from the resonator back and replace with a single pipe with tips welded/ screwed on the piping. Thats option 1, now option 2 is replacing the oem muffler with an aftermarket muffler to sound better/louder . Depends really what your looking for .

Sorry to bump this but I have a question.
I really want to do this to my car, but I'm concerned that if I ever end up trading my car at the dealer, they won't take it, even if I reinstall the muffler. I say this because putting the muffler back on requires welds that weren't there stock. Anyone know if I should worry about this? Thanks. |

did someone tell u it sounded like a 335i with an eisenmann exhaust? I like the sound of mine although it is slightly diff as I used a Vibrant res instead of the OEM one but it's nice and deep. Also get the nice gurgle. For the money you can't go wrong but some like it and some don't.

I've had mine for about 3 1/2 yrs now and I still love it every time I start that engine! Letting off the gas gives an awesome gurgle and full throttle is heaven! The best part is that it doesn't sound like an unmuffled engine. It really sounds like a great low restriction performance exhaust. You do have to have some tolerance for drone because the sound is always there, but for me it's no issue.
Love it!

dood. there is nothing on the muffler other than the muffler itself. if you're that concerned, stick your head under the muffler and look for yourself. it'll be worth it to see with your own eyes to get over your paranoia. it was already answered that there are no sensors. its a muffler, not an intake manifold.

I am currently changing my rear to the 335 exhaust set up and the only option when doing this is to remove the rear muffler. I did the same mod to my old car ( golf Gti mk5 ) and it was great not too loud. My exhaust guy has told me that the rear muffler does most of the work on the e90 and that it will be pretty loud. Thing is I'm all for a little louder deeper tone but don't want it to be obnoxiously loud. Does this mod make it extremely noisy and what is cabin noise like ?
Thanks

Got this done today along with 335 rear conversion. It is very Loud but what a noise sounds mega ! Does drone at 60-70mph though, my exhaust guy says he can put a smaller muffler in if I find it too loud but il leave as is just now and see If I get used to it. It's not to bad but I think it would be annoying on a long journey !
