wasn't able to read 16 pages - just to clarify: the main difference is in the manifold and that there is disa?

Correct. With the 328i and 325i, they come with single stage intakes. Where on the 330i, X3 and a few other cars, they come with a 3-stage intake that are powered by (2) DISA motors.

No, the tune should adapt to the new manifold after some time.

What would the HP gains be if you did the intake swap and no tune?

Very little gain. Maybe 3 hp. The tune is what makes it capable of gaining nearly 30 hp.

Sounds like getting the tune first is the more productive route then.

Ok maybe this has been asked elsewhere, but can the 335i intake fit the 325i? The reason I ask is that I may be able to get a 335i intake in the coming months from a friend that is doing an upgrade on his 335i. Thanks!!

Ahh crap, you're right. I have the N52 and he has the N54. I thought maybe if the blocks and cylinder head were the same it might work.

In the process of doing this swap. Does anyone know the ECU ZB# from the Z4 3.0, X5 3.0 or X3 3.0?

you may want to email a German tuner, they may have this info.

off topic: did you end up ordering super sprint headers?

Bringing back this thread i figured I could get some help if I posed here. I got a used 3 stage manifold today. Its from an N51. This should work on my N52 right? also how do i tell if i have the adjuster units on my manifold or if I need to order them?

The N51 manifold should fit since it had the same part number. Make sure you replace the gaskets if it came off another car. The adjustors should be attatched. They are 2 rectangular boxes. The smaller one is under the intake runners and the larger one is exactly on the opposite side. If they are missing it will just have two holes where the adjustor should be.

What engine do you have? N51 or N52? N51 already has a 3-stage intake manifold. N52 powered 328s do benefit but don't see quite the same gains as the 325 does since image 325 is down 15HP on the 328.

Is it more bang for the buck to get a tune first then a 3 stage manifold second on a 328? Just lookin for a little more ooomph on my 328i 6MT
