traffic info stations

Is there any reason to think that the info on the 'traffic info' stations are not equally current - that is, do they all broadcast the same signal - or might some sources have better data (more current) than others? Is is best to let the system auto select the strongest signal?

For some reason I've noticed that my traffic info detector has been off lately. When there is traffic it doesn't pick it up and vice versa. Anyone else?
