Alpina suspension upgrade?
Does Alpina sell suspension separately for the 3 series? They have the B3 an D3 cars where they fit their own suspension so surely one can get them?
I've seen a ton of reviews by now, all raving on how great their suspension is and how it's miles ahead of what BMW or other tuners provide - i.e. it's very responsive and little to no roll, yet offers a very comfy ride on every day drive. So question is - can you actually order one? MY schocks are feeling tired and I'm planning to switch so before I head to BMW for Performance suspension or to KW for coilovers, I want to know if I can buy ALpina and if anyone managed to do this?

I'm not sure if they do, but if they do, it'll be even more expensive than Dinan.

we dont get dinan here but if it's around 1000-1500 usd it's ok. I think it shouldn't be much pricier than BMW Performance. And I think by default it's ok if its more pricey than regular tuners stuff since Alpina is pretty much a works tuner and cooperates with BMW and corrects for what BMW can't due to mass market nature of their products. Read any review and you'll see Alpina versions of 335 for example are considered in real world to be better car than even the M3. But very pricey and they depreciate too fast. Still, i just want the suspension and hopefully someone here knows.

Yeah, my fault, I didn't see you were in Estonia when I replied.
I did go looking around at Alpina's website. Bilstein and Eibach is what they mentioned, but nothing for complete suspension setups.

ALPINA does sell the suspension separately, as indicated in the catalogue. However, they don't sell that suspension for a 335i, only for the less powerful models. I think the cost for it was around 1000 USD. You can always enquire by mail directly at ALPINA in Germany whether they ship it to the US.
However, don't expect any wonders out of it - I've driven the B3 BT and it's a good combination of street comfort and sports ride, but still has too much body roll for me. A true coilover kit like the Bilstein B16 is much superior to the ALPINA suspension, let alone if you combine it with some M3 parts as discussed in another thread here. Alpina_B3_Lux

nice find with the catalouge, thx. I have 320d and would be looking for exact same suspension they put on D3.
most likely will have to email to them.

Alpina Suspension on the D3
The suspension on the Alpina D3 is not significantly different from that of the standard 320d. Essentially the only difference is the Dampers, with the Springs and Sway Bars remaining standard items.
Don't forget that the Alpina D3 runs on different wheels and more crucially tyres. In the UK, the D3 comes with 19" Wheels (235/35R19 Front, 265/30R19 Rear). With regards to ride quality I think Alpina have it just right, not too hard but still good cornering. To give you an idea, when I test drove my D3 I did it back-to-back with a 320d MSport and it was the ride that convinced me more than the additional power. I found the MSport very 'skittish' due to the springs (and run flat tyres) making the ride too hard. The D3 is softer than the MSport and does roll more, but still handles very well due to the revised dampers and tyre combination. I must emphasise that I think the tyres play a big part! Run flat tyres give a horrible ride, which is probably why Alpina don't use them. If you are interested I will see if I can find a part number on my Dampers? You may find this review of the D3 at theALPINAregister interesting.

I checked with Alpina - they not only use special dampers but also springs. Its Bilstein dampers and Eibach, tuned specifically for 320d. I'm curious how bad the car rumbles on 19s though. Will check the link, thanks!
