Are Coils covered under CPO

today my car fired a code P0301, First cylinder misfire. It happend after some spirited driving on the HWY, Car started shaking and once stop it was OK.

Read the code as P0301. changed the Spark plugs around 10k miles before by Dealer, so Cant be the SP, so either Coil or the Injectors. I read that Coil and Injectors are normally covered under CPO.

If its Coils I hope Dealer change all of them since Labor is costly then the Coils itself, I wish they had them changed last time they change the Spark Plugs.

Taken in soon to the Dealer.. hoping some other misfires too ..

Yes it is covered. Swap coils on cylinders to confirm the problem. The dealer will only replace the bad coil not all of them.

I agree they normally replace the one which misfires. I think each Coil cost ~$42.
Last time they charge me $400 just for Labor to replace 6 Spark Plugs..

You wont believe what they found under the Hood where all coils sit.
Dealer telling me that the Mice has eaten some of the Harness which is used by the Coils.
They saw Rat droppings too. They see 3 Cylinders misfiring and they think its because of the Harness. asking me $1500+ for parts and Labor. Not covered under CPO but was told to ask my Insurance that they should cover it. Insurance told me they cover such things but still want to see the evidence that Rat or Mice eat the Harness. Here goes my $500 deductible

I am still surprise for the amount of $$ to fix the issue. Harness like $82 .

Wow. That is ridiculous. Goodluck with this issue. If the dealer cannot provide proof of the mice intervention, they should cover everything

If my insurance for some reason dont accept the evidence then I will be the one stick with that Bill. Dealer made it very clear its not them. I parked my car garaged all the time and never seen a Rat or mice in my garage. If they do get in then not sure how, Car was at dealer last week and they saw nothing that time. so it happened in last 7 days.

Not sure about a Diy but if it was me i would buy the Harness and place it next to the one in the car that is already installed.. Once you do it like that i would unplug and plug as you go that way you should not miss any thing.

The exact same thing just happened to me.. After local shop removed engine cover, and found mouse nest they replaced 1 coil pack, and while they were there they also installed new plugs. All for $199.00, and car runs great... Dealers are such a rip off, but unfortunately you will need them b4 they need you. Good luck.

The Insurance ask them to try repairing the bad cables, so they splice them and use some connectors to fix them, ~$487 bill, Now we seeing issues with other Cylinders and they looking into Injectors now. Spark Plugs were already changed last year and they saying its not the Coils but something build up at Injectors and Carbon. 335i is Direct Injection so Fuel never touches the Spray like other BMWs. So car still at the shop being worked. I hope its the Injectors because they are covered under CPO. Hope so.

Its Carbon build and they be doing the Walnut blasting to clean it. Covered by CPO.
Injectors and coils are good. Hope that will make the Car runs better now..

i just had a coil & spark plug replaced on cylinder # 6 for ~$150. I think it was like 40 for the coil, 20 for the plug & 1/5 hour of labor. Then again I also had a few other things fixed so they might have cut me a break.

Is that at Dealer pricing. Not bad.

Mine charged me ~600 for all 6 Sparks plug job, telling me 1200 for Walnut blasting which also include all the troubleshooting and diagnostic they did.
but free since CPO only need to pay 50 for deductible.

ya that was dealer pricing. It should have been a 1/2 hour not a 1/5, my apologies for the typo. I also had rear brakes installed (Rotors, Pads & Sensors) for like ~$450 & the DTR angel eye (i think its the parking lamp) replaced on the driver’s side. Getting to the point, I think i might have got a break due to all the work & the ~$800 bill

I have been driving the car for almost a week now, and the change is very visible.
No hesitation at higher RPM and feel like its running very smooth now.
Dealership also change coil #5 on it since they see codes thrown after walnut blasting from cyl #5.
